not all it's cracked up to be and there have beem some concerns about just how good a security measure it is.

Funnily enough Apple aren't the the only ones going down this path. HTC are the same with their recently released OneX.

only if you stick with older versions of Flash and Android. Adobe has stopped development on Flash for the platform.

@Mr. Laser Beam: The only app iTunes shows (where you described) is iBooks, which I just had to re-download the other day for my iPod to get some of my ebooks on to it.

I do have "Apps" checked off on the checklist in Preferences as well.

That's swell! Is there a reason you feel the need to keep coming in here and taking the piss out of people who do like and use Apple products? I've noticed you have been making it a point to do so in the thread bomb thread (which is fine, honestly) but do you have to do it in here?

watch the video on the first post of this thread...

from there onwards, it wasn't a serious Iphone thread, hence why it's in miscellaneous and not Technology... i believe there is a serious Apple tech thread over in technology, where i don't post or comment about Apple tech or my beliefs about it...

If people wish to turn this thread, which originally started as a joke about the Iphone 5, into a serious Apple thread, then please do so and i won't post in here again

    @Methos:

If this were a thread of two or three pages of nothing but trash talking Apple, I'd agree with you. But there's plenty of valid discussion and and questions going on, but you're the only one really who keeps coming back with drive-bys.

Are you honestly saying its more important for you to get these potshots in here than it is to just, you know, be done with it already? Or are you just going to keep coming back to remind us again and again what a shitty phone the iPhone is?

i'm just using the thread as a joke, as it was originally intended...

Anyone that comes in here and discusses Apple tech is fine, i don't comment on them, their posts, or their choices... the thread wasn't started in a serious fashion, it was started as a joke thread... as i said, if people want to hijack the thread into a serious discussion, fine, but the original topic was humour against apple, as the first post shows, so why should everyone change topic midway through just to accede to the few posts in here, instead of in the serious Apple thread?

Well, threads evolve. And I've been trying to work around an issue I'm having with my iPod and iPhone (which posters like Mr. Laser Beam have been good enough to offer advice and suggestions on) and it's irritating to have to sift through your "iPhones suck" posts to find the actual content I'm interested in reading.

You can do whatever you want dude, but thread hasn't been about shitting on Apple for a couple of pages; you're the only one coming in here and perpetuating it. In fact, looking over the thread in its entirety, over the past four pages, you're the only one doing it, in nearly every other post.

So I'm asking, politely, if you could give it a rest. We get it. You don't like Apple or iPhones. Your Galaxy is a better phone in every respect.

    Fine by me.

As far as i knew though, we had multiple threads where people were asked to take comments and discussions over to the correct forum / thread, and to keep 'on topic' with the original post... but if this thread has 'evolved' to a serious apple thread, then why not delete the 'serious apple thread' in the Tech forum and move this thread to there where it belongs now then?

I won't make any further comments in here if thats what people want, it might be worth editing the original post so it's a serious thread about apple, and not the humor one that it's supposed to be, as it seems that what you believe people want here.

Because that's in a different forum. It is possible to have discussions on the same topic in different forums on this board. It happens all the time.

Thanks. I don't see a need for the original post (or any that have been made, honestly) to be changed. You seem to understand the gist of what I'm saying, so I don't understand why you are suggesting it has to be "all or nothing" -- all serious or all fun and games.

The thread evolved to be about legit discussion of the merit of the iPhone 5, including discussion of apps and app management (hence my earlier queries.) It's not that hard to see how the thread evolved in to what it has become.

Just like doubleoh, I may upgrade from my iPhone 4. I made a simulation of the price and my provider is offering it at €127. Don't know how much I could get by reselling my current phone. Two years ago, I paid my iPhone 4 €18 because I gave back the 3G.

The iOS 6 upgrade is also for the iPad 3 (can't wait to try Siri on it!)

Part of my problem is if I upgrade, I'm not gonna sell my iPhone 4. I can still use that thing as a camera and for whatever other use the apps I bought will allow me to, so really I'd be paying $200 for another camera, which really... right now, I don't know that I need.

Edit: Oops, checked and it's iPhone's 4S and 5, iPad3 and Touch 5 that will have it.

Well then don't upgrade if you need the money. I have a mildly annoying problem with the Home Button and could easily wait another couple of months and have the price dropped. Keeping the previous device could be useful though.

Truth be told, my "Home" button has been a bit wonky lately. I sometimes have to press it repeatedly to get it to open a screen/close out of an app. If I upgrade for any reason, it will be to get around this one issue.

Hmmm...that's odd. So all of your apps just up and vanished? I don't know why that would happen...

Have you tried asking on discussions.apple.com? I get a lot of good information from that board.

It's possible I wiped them myself.

I recently bought the season pass for Doctor Who series 7 on iTunes and had to de-authorize all the other computers I'd used in the past (which no longer function) in order to authorize my current laptop. That might have had something to do with it, not sure.

I figured out a work-around. I transferred all the apps from my iPhone back to iTunes and then exported them on to the iPod (well, most of them.)

I want to thank you Mr. Laser Beam for your help and your patience and suggestions. I'd probably still be scratching my head trying to figure this out without your help here. Much appreciated!

I don't think that would do something like this. Authorization in iTunes doesn't have anything to do with apps; it only controls the playback of protected media, like movies and TV shows (and, in the old days, songs). It shouldn't have any bearing on apps.

    thanks :)

I will be selling our iPhone 4's. Can't wait to list them on ebay. I figured we can get at least $150 for the iPhone 4, so that will eat a bit into the $399 price for the iPhone 5.
