It's still not what I would have preferred, but I suppose it's what they've chosen to go with. It seems a bit odd he wouldn't adopt a more adult attitude when the Captain to continue throwing off his identity... and I'm not even sure how it's supposed to work, unless the implication is that even as a normal kid Billy Batson has the Wisdom of Solomon. I do like how he identifies with the other YJ members and maybe if he'd been portrayed as more of a force of nature as well as kinda goofy I'd be less bothered. Meh... I'm overly fixating on this, aren't I? Sorry, missed yours first time around.
thought 'Alpha Male' was a fun episode. Cap Marvel was fun to watch and his depiction didn't bother me at all. kinda how he acts in the comics at times anyway. and yeah, nice to see Miss Martian get a little development by not letting Superboy walk over her.
Really? That's pretty much the way I've always seen him portrayed in his modern animated appearances. This episode didn't do much for me. It seemed like it was mainly an excuse to toss in some goofy old comics characters -- Brain and Mallah, Captain Marvel, Mr. Tawny, even Uncle Dudley. This show has done a fairly good job redeeming obscure characters like Sportsmaster, but this time it didn't work. Brain was too much of a stereotype, with the corny overdone accent and that lame thing of having a foreigner toss in random phrases in their own language while speaking English (people don't generally do that in real life). And why didn't Aqualad just give his explanation to the team earlier? Okay, I guess his loss of confidence was keeping him from defending himself or something, but it felt like a contrived way to prolong a conflict that could've been quite easily resolved. Anyway, here's what I've had running through my head: They're Mallah and the Brain, Yes, Mallah and the Brain. One's a gorilla, the other's insane. To prove their evil worth, They'll overthrow the Earth. They're Mallah, They're Mallah and the Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain, narf!
Young Justice has a great universe, great characters, and great animation, but I feel the individual episodes are so far not the greatest. It doesn't have an epic feel the way the new Avengers cartoon does... yet. For example "Alpha Male" was not the most interesting premise. Mind-controlled animals? Mallah and the Brain? I'm waiting for the big stuff.
As much as I personally love Mallah And the Brain, they do highlight the series' chief flaw: 1-dimensional sub-villians.
I thought this was a pretty fun episode. I got a kick out of Captain Marvel, although I didn't realize that was how he was usually portrayed. But so far only other exposure I have had to the character is the DC Showcase short, so I don't have a lot of familiarity with the character to judge the portrayal. I actually kind of like the concept, since it helps to make him unique. I enjoyed some of the character development for Kaldur, Meegan, and Superboy.. The only thing I didn't really care for in this episode was The Brain and Mallah, I'm sorry but I thought they were just strange and kinda cheesy villains. But that's more the concept of the characters in general that I find cheesy, not necessarily their portrayal here.
Well, I'll bow to you guys. I've not seen him in anything animated other than the Justice League Unlimited episode "Clash;" most of what I've seen of him comes from the Geoff Johns run in the Justice Society. And Kingdom Come of course, but that obviously doesn't count here. I'm guessing by the closing sequence he's going to play a decent ongoing role? It was slightly contrived but I like how it played out with his conversation with Marvel and stepping up and taking charge. Initially he almost seemed like he was taking a "placeholder" leadership role; now it seems like he's taking authority. This felt like a "building upon" episode - we saw the Belle Reve collars and Cobra venom being used on the critters. Don't know what else the Brain and Mallah were actually doing there but I imagine it's all part of the Light's plan. I dunno, I've liked Kobra and Bane and most of the others alright, and I think Sportsmaster's worked surprisingly well.

In the new ep there are two characters co created by dewayne Mcduffie during his milestone years. Icon and rocket. Didn't get a real good look at rocket but icon was recognizable to fans of milestone media comics.
This show is so wooden, everything is so formal and mannered. I've tried to like it but I have a hard time getting into it. Poison Ivy's design is terrible, I don't know how there could've been ounce of heart in creating it. Has there ever been a more stable Joker? All I could think after seeing Aquaman is that I was pissed that my DVR didn't record Brave and the Bold for some reason. I think I can see what they're going for, trying to make something more realistic than most but it seems so joyless most of the time. Despite my slagging, it isn't terrible and it has its moments but I've been disappointed that it hasn't been able to fully engage me.

This was an interesting ep indeed...the villains they used was also interesting for the IJ. I need to re-watch the end...but the Light is Luthor and some other guys? I need help identifying all of them. But the IJ are pawns, The LoS as well...but the Light is Luthor and a group of other villains? I enjoy the series...but it does lack something that JLU had...I wouldn't call it heart...but it certainly isn't as fun...but I do enjoy this series.
I kind of agree with Mr. Adventure and I haven't seen that many episodes but I haven't been totally eager to watch. It is lacking something.
The Joker was the wrong villain to be doing what they had home doing. I agree that he was too lucid. Spoiler: The Joker However, they did have him appropriately homicidal, with the "laughing gas" on the firemen and also going after Robin with the knife. Spoiler: Plan B With respect to the Fate Helmet Gambit, as I'll call it, a.k.a. Plan B, the helmet was entrusted to M'gann's Bio Ship. But the ship was in trouble when caught by Poison Ivy's plants. Since the ship was in peril, that should have triggered Plan B immediately. Only if the ship were safe would it be a strategically sound gambit to leave the helmet in her custody. The helmet is too important to needlessly risk. That was disappointing, that the authors overlooked, or were willing to let slide, that flaw.
I'm having a hard time getting into this show too. I wouldn't say it's bad, but I'm just not invested in the characters or the story. I'm several episodes behind and I don't care.
Joker was pretty underwhelming, though i wouldn't necessarily blame Brent Spiner. i think it lies in the writing.
