Always sad when a young person goes down in their prime. I saw an interview with him at a con and he actually looked good and I thought he was doing well. Damn.

I thought he was doing well too. He looked so great in Spartacus, and in just 18 months ... Cancer is hideous.

I never watched the show but it SUCKS when someone dies that young. :(

In tribute to Andy Whitfield, I'm putting the first season of Spartacus on my Netflix queue! Been meaning to get around to it anyway...

Totally sucks. What else you can say? Thought he was great in Spartacus and thought it was awesome when I saw him in that Freddie Wong Time Crisis video. It doesn't get any cooler than Freddie Wong.

I guess the writing was on the wall when they went ahead and recast Spartacus, but still pretty shocking when someone in that kind of shape dies to disease at that age. Fuck cancer indeed.

I bet you would like it. I watched it this summer and enjoyed it thoroughly.

If you had kept your streaming, you could be watching it right now...

But I wouldn't be able to watch all the stuff that's only on DVD! Anyway, I put the first disk at #20 in my queue. I'd put it higher expect for all the stuff that's been languishing for far too long (for instance, The Wire). I still haven't dug down to The Sopranos and Six Feet Under. They've been queued up literally for years. I have 271 titles in my queue and it never gets below 250. And the new TV season is starting, I might scale back Netflix to one DVD at a time, just because I'm not going to have time for more than that.

Totally off topic, I know. is there much stuff? Course, for me, most times the extras aren't all that great.

    Back on topic: fuck cancer.

One thing to keep in mind is that the show is quite stylized which I found jarring at first but quite liked by the end.

Also, be sure to watch Blood and Sand before Gods of the Arena which is the order in which they aired. Like most prequels you still should watch it in production order.

That said, I first saw some episodes of Gods of the Arena before I watched Blood and Sand and then finished up Gods of the Arena and while not by intentional choice that ended up being a good way to watch it.

RIP. I thought he was doing better or at least that's what I had heard a few weeks ago. Way too young to go.

I was so sad to hear of his passing! I had never watched the show, but it's such a shame when someone is lost to cancer. Much too young. :(. My heart goes out to his friends and family.
