Well they're meant to be the most feared race in the universe and wiped out the Time Lords. They're hardly the intergalactic Chuckle Brothers. Though again, the resolution (to dignify it) of Journey's End which involved the Daleks leaving a console with the ability to turn them into exploding spinning tops just sitting in the basement makes them look like a bunch of big sillies as well.
They did that with pigmen in series 3. I'd sooner they didn't try again.

To be fair about the Daleks getting wiped out, this kind of happened a few times in the classic series as well-in "The Daleks" "Evil of the Daleks" and "Rememberance of the Daleks"

For a race that is supposedly "Better at dying" The Cybermen-be they from Mondas or Pete's world-are much more resilient.

I'd actually like to see more variety with the Daleks apart from different colors/paint schemes. So far we've only had variations on the appendages here and there-the only really different Dalek has been the Emperor. It'd be cool to see Daleks with casings adapted for different missions . Plus it would probably sell more stuff for CO than just repainted Daleks.

Actually, in the scene in Journey's End when the Crucible and its surrounding saucers are blowing up, one saucer breaks formation and flies away, so they were clearly setting things up back then.

I definitely support putting the Daleks on vacation and then maybe "rebooting" them to make them more of a threat (though I don't know how you can do that since they bumped off the Time Lords). I'm hoping for the return of the Mondas Cyberman instead of Pete's world Cyberman. (I loved the BF Cyberman series even if the ending was rubbish).

Well, Moffat has said that the Cybermen shown in "The Pandorica Opens" were Mondasian Cybermen, not Cybus-men, and they even lacked the Cybus "C" chest logo to prove it.

The Cybermen in "Pandorica" still had the Cybrus chest. That wasn't removed until their impending appearance, judging from publicity photos.

^ In any case, logo or not, they still look the same otherwise. It would be cool if the Mondasian Cybermen had a somewhat different design and physicality, though I'm sure that would be cost-prohibitive.

Despite what Moffat said, I choose to believe the Cybermen in The Pandorica Opens were the Cybus Cybermen. Aside from the Cybus logo, what other reason is there for them showing concern for other universes?

I have no problem with Mondas Cybermen looking similar to Cybus ones, as seems to be the case in A Good Man Goes to War.

I can understand them not redesigning the cybermen suits. Those things are expensive. So I can live with them being our universe Cybermen just as long as they act the part. No more canking around and shouting "Delete!"

I doubt they'll go into any detail, but given everything we know, it's perfectly reasonable for other colonies of Cybrusmen to have leaked into the universe from the Void the same way the "Next Doctor" ones did, and to have found and joined up with the Mondasian Cybermen. The Cybermen were the ones to propose an alliance in "Doomsday," after all. They wouldn't be as liable to civil war as, say, the Daleks.

The problem with the Daleks is that too often the Doctor defeats the entire Dalek race, it's just silly. It'd be like a cold War era James Bond defeating the entire of the USSR or SPECTRE, it just wouldn't happen. He defeats one particular villain, one tentacle of the organisation at a time, that's all. I'd like the see the Doctor defeating specific ploys of the Daleks (Ploy of the Dalek would be a rubbish episode title though) and actually it'd be nice to see the Daleks win (sort of) more of the time. I don't mind seeing them every year, but I'd like to see them more as shadowy manipulators. I'd love to see an episode where the Doctor saves the day, defeats a foe, only to then cut to a scene of several Daleks in a remote control centre and a Dalek Strategist proclaiming that "As expected the Doctor has defeated the Zoggians, step up invasions plans and institute strategy 14."

A series long chess game between the Doctor and the Daleks could potentially be fantastic.

It's the right thing to do, too much of a good thing and they lose their impact

    I've heard them called iDaleks.

Another rumour which I'm sure others here have encountered is that being redesigned (reimagined?). Not the whole race, but a new variant...

The new Daleks reminded me of M&Ms:lol: Anyway, I would be very interested to see what new variation Steven Moffat comes up with for them.

there are so many great alien adversaries from the classic series, this decision is perfect and to retire the daleks for a while isn't such a bad idea.. though I did think that at some point the doctor should have a trip to skarro and troll around in there like in the adventure game, that would certainly be an awesome show to watch..just one big bang showing of the new moffat daleks to set them off for their hiatus is all I think he should do in the future...

then let them rest for 2 seasons or more..
