That just means you're a pre-Trib. Hopefully you didn't work too hard on that - it sounds very much like the Preterists' view, which is widely held as a plausible interpretation of Revelation. Not all Christians hold a Futurists' view of Revelation.
That would be the same Pat Robertson who in 1976 predicted the end of the world as October/November 1982? In fact he guarenteed it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pat_Robertson#1982:_Doomsday That his prediction didn't come true doesn't seem to have done him any harm so I think those who keep coming out with these predictions will just skate by. I'm just wondering though, when the end of the world utterly fails to materialise, what's going to happen to all those people like the couple mentioned above? There's often a cross-over between the people who believe the end time prophecies (a 19th century creation) and the political hard right who think taxes etc are evil and decry things as socialist. Will they now have to turn around and ask others for help? There was also a prediction that May 11th, 2011 would see massive earthquake hit Rome so people fled the city though to my knowledge the city is still standing. http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2011/05/11/3213319.htm
I believe in what the Bible says about the rapture and tribulation, but I don't believe folks who say they KNOW when Jesus is coming back. Nobody knows except God. For all we know Jesus won't come back for another 100 years.
This is why I don't associate myself with any religious group, and find my own way with God. The Bible clearly states that nobody will EVER know the day of Judgment. That automatically invalidates any and all doomsday prophecies, assuming that the Bible is right (which I do). For all I know, God could just decide to end the world because He woke up in a foul mood.
Or the world could have rolled under the couch and gotten lost. After a cursory search, God could have said "fuck it" and started a new one, leaving us to continue as long as we can.
The end of the world almost happened for me approximately 2 months ago, when a vehicle in the May 21st Apocalyptic RV Convoy ran a red light and narrowly missed running me down in a Hollywood crosswalk. To answer the OP's question, I predict a mass suicide on May 22nd.
Nerimon makes an excellent point at the end of his Last Video that only God knows the time of the rapture. [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JV4M1ao5EVI&feature=feedu[/yt] Anyway, I'll be flying to Colorado that day. Yay? Yay.
Here's what's happened: God, upon learning of this prophecy some months ago: God: Okay. *Materializes a pen and his planner, looks up the Gregorian date of May 21, 2011* God: Well, that day's a scratch... *Smirks and crosses "Rapture" off of the day's agenda, chuckles afterward* God: My silly humans trying to predict me, they're just not supposed to KNOW!
There really is no bottom to human fear and stupidity. [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eyFiClAzq8[/yt] Smoke 'em if you got 'em!
If nothing else, this has helped me weed out the one or two psychos I somehow became friends with on Facebook. So, thanks for that, crazy people.
