I was hoping he would make one more appearance in modern Who. He does have a semi-connection, though. He appeared in two Unbound audios starring David Warner as an alternate Doctor. Guest-starring in at least one of those two is David Tennant, Doctor Ten.

They wanted to bring him back for the Sarah Jane Wedding episode, which would have given him screen-time with Ten, but he was too ill and they rewrote it.

He is such a huge part of Doctor Who, and now he's gone.

RIP, Brig. Here's hoping you made it out of Peru.

    Nooooo..... :(

The Brig is one of my favourite Who characters, almost everything he appeared in just got a certain charm to it. I will miss him greatly.

Very sad news. By coincidence a few days ago I decided to buy Lis Sladen's reading of Doctor Who and the Spiders just out of the blue, so I've been listening to one of the Brig's old stories. He will be missed. :(

I think it's fair to say he's the most major Who cast member we've lost since Jon Pertwee died back in 1996 a few days after the TV movie aired.

RIP Brig! It is an utter fucking shame that they never had him on the new show. I mean, outside of the usual "Doctor\Companion" thing, I don't think there's ever been a character at the same level of the Brigadier. I know they can't cameo every one who was once on the show, but c'mon....the Brig is the only character to have known so many different incarnations of the Doctor!!

    Oh, no. :(

I always liked Lethbridge-Stewart. Nicholas Courtney was probably the main reason why.

    RIP.

    Sad news.

The early 70's era is my favourite.

All the best to his friends and family.

Quite a sad moment. The Brig was an excellent character, and always a joy to watch. My condolences go out to Mr. Courtney's family.

Oh man, what awful news to end my day on. The Brig was one of the greatest DW characters ever, and from what I've heard, Nick was a lovely man in RL. We're all a lot poorer for the loss.

Wrong Doctor, but this about sums up how I feel. :(

My prayers go out to Courtney's family and friends.

Even though I started Doctor Who in the middle of the Tom Baker era, as I dived deeper into the show's past, I immediately developed a liking to the Brigadier as the often long-suffering straight-man to the Doctor's antics. Courtney simply owned that character, IMO.

It might be the 'wrong' Doctor, Cutter John, but I'm sure Ten would have cried at the news.
Nicholas Courtney really did a great job portraying the overly straight, military minded Brig in an amiable, warm way.

I just checked the BBC Doctor Who site, and there's still no mention of his passing. I hope they are going to give him the acknowledgement he deserves.
