Oh, okay. I thought you really were unaware of the effects of the Trellium on T'Pol and the reasons for her extreme actions. I didn't realize it was a shipper thing. Nevermind.
I took a look at that. They actually have an entire message board community, though its pretty quiet. Still, if anyone wants to go and make some noise for A/T: http://z1.invisionfree.com/forums/The_Logical_Choice/index.php
As one of the few minority who wasn't a fan of Trip/T'Pol I would think to at least a certain extent that there was a fleeting possibility of romantic feelings between Archer and T'Pol. They kind of had a Scully/Mulder thing going on at first. Started off on the wrong foot, then developed a good working relationship, that evolved into a close friendship that bordered on a possible relationship. I don't think either of them would have pursued such a relationship though. I always liked that scene between them in "These Are The Voyages..." (one of the few things that episode got right imo). It would have been fascinating to see a romantic relationship between Archer and T'Pol. Maybe one could have developed after their mutual grief over Trip's death??
I'm finding more and more this has been explored in fanfic, and has produced some good stories. And I like the Mulder/Scully comparison.
^ I've been hearing a lot about the Delphic Expanse lately. Are you responsible? I also like the Mulder/Scully comparison. Friends with a little more, because it's really based on friendship and saving each other's lives multiples times.
I can't say that I ever saw much chemistry between those actors, Definitely nothing on the level as between Trip and T'Pol. When it came to Archer/T'Pol, it always came off as somewhat forced in my view. It also had a somewhat misogynistic feeling to it. Not only because so much of their interaction involved him yelling at her and threatening her, especially early on, but at points it seemed that the writers made T'Pol weaker, physically as well as psychologically. Two instances I can think of off hand are the episode where the human crew members begin to obsess over whatever they were working on as they approach the anomaly of the week and the episode where T'Pol had to hunt down a Vulcan criminal. In the first instance, Archer was able to easily overpower T'Pol physically despite the previously established fact that Vulcans are approximately three times as strong as a human on average. In the second instance, there was a point where Captain Archer literally had to hold T'Pol's hand while she shot the criminal, using the stun setting. There is also the unfortunate implication that a male and female in a superior/subordinate relationship cannot keep that relationship professional. This implication makes me roll my eyes, because I have seen it so many times. Stargate SG-1 comes to mind, but there are also so many other examples. To be completely honest, though, I did not find the relationship between Trip and T'Pol to be much better. As with Enterprise itself, there was certainly potential there, but while I liked the idea, I did not find the execution all that desirable.
Since this is the closest thing we have to an Archer/T'Pol appreciation thread -- and we have nothing that resembles an Archer appreciation thread -- I thought I would post a couple of 2011 calendars I made for Archer and T'Pol. 2011 Archer calendar 2011 T'Pol calendar Enjoy.
My personal favorite A/T fic that takes place after Trip's death is In the Company of Ghosts. It's kind of cliche to say this, but it is haunting and beautiful. Told from Jon's POV. Simply breathtaking! The December on for T'Pol's just breaks my heart. And I love Archer's November calendar!
^^ Agreed about November Archer. He does stoic angst sooo well. It's hard for me to pick favorites -- I love each image for one reason or another. (I've used many of them for avatars.) But I admit I went nuts when I found the December Archer image. And the T'Pol August and November. And July T'Pol is just sublime. Ohhh, don't get me started...
Archer and Shran together on my birth month (October) pleases me. Regardless of my opinion of Archer, I loved his relationship with Shran.
Oooookay, stumbled upon this thread a minute ago. Does it really say "archer" and "t'pol" in the same line with a romantic context? When?! Its' been a while since I last saw enterprise, but never has a single thought crossed my mind involving those two. O.o
People see what they want to see. That said, Scott and Jolene had a lot of onscreen chemistry and the writers wrote to their strengths.
I cannot say that I ever saw any chemistry between the actors, however; it was very clear in some episodes that the writers were trying to force them as an item, especially during the second season. To be fair, though, the writers almost seemed to be trying to pair her up with anyone during the second season just to see if they liked the idea. Reed apparently fantasized about her, and Phlox was forced into a situation where having sex with her might have been the only way to "cure" her. But then it is somewhat disturbing how T'Pol was treated throughout the series as a character.
Perhaps you should list all the instances in each of the episodes you feel are examples and describe why you think they are examples. If nothing else it may make for some more interesting discussion than, what it has consisted of so far. I would encourage the others who felt the same way to do the same, and for those who feel the opposite or indifferent to respond and explain why they felt otherwise.
ANiS (aka "The shame of Trek") - a sexually frustrated middle aged guy gets pwn3d Twilight (an alternate reality episode) - A guy who can't remember shit, doesn't know shit and doesn't understand shit is puzzled as to what the fuck is T'Pol doing with him on that planet. TEH CHEMISTRY!
Yes, we get it. You guys don't like the couple. You said that months ago in this thread. Sorry if we're somehow threatening your OTP. No need to troll over it.
