Flyers are currently up on Tamba Bay by 1 goal half way through the game.

    So you're thinking.. 2-1? 3-2 maybe? Nope. 7-6

8-7 the final. Wow. Not a good game if you're a goalie. Nine of those fifteen goals came in the first.

Oh, and the Leafs beat the Devils 3-1.

So this was the penalty that resulted in the Flyers OT goal getting waived off. It makes me angry.

Not at all surprising that a putz like Chris Pronger was the first player to be called on the Sean Avery rule. I don't blame Philly fans for being upset, but it was a fair call.

And while I'm posting in this thread-- all kudos to Marc-Andre Fleury. After being mediocre last season and losing the starting position last month, he's been stringing together big games to rival any goalie in the league. Since his "comebacK", he's gone 7-0-1 with a 1.60 GAA and 1 SO.

Billy Guerin officially retires as a Penguin. His Penguins career was brief but he was a big Pittsburgh folk hero. Good luck and thanks for the Cup, BillyG.!

And thanks for one of the greatest ever hockey pictures, too.

Being where I am in the most miserable city in the country, I was expecting the Maple Leafs to improve in the standings. Many years ago back West I remember that one-year gap between the Reign of Error and the Canucks making the playoffs again.

^ Well they've won two in a row now, so they're obviously getting primed for losing the next ten straight.

Regardless of the Battles of Ontario rivalry, I'd like to see more local coverage for the Sens here.

The Sens are suffering. I get enough Ottawa games here in Brockville, more than Leafs games. Of course watching RDS I get even more Habs games which is fine with me, particularly this season. :D

The Caps are getting slaughtered by the Rangers 7-0 late in the 3rd. Ovechkin dropped the gloves apparently for only the second time in his career.

I hope they shape up in time for the Winter Classic. I may not like the decision to once again shove Ovechkin/Crosby down the throats of all the Hockey Fans not in those cities (And if you've seen the ads it might as well be one on one affair) but I still hope it's a good game and actually a "Classic". It's something worth watching on New Years Day.

I find a lot of the officiating this season to be horrible. You just sneeze in a guy's direction and barely touch him and you're given two minutes. And yet blatant trips, hooks, obstructions, boardings and cross checks are being overlooked. What a bunch of stripe shirted clowns.

And of course there's also diving which Detroit seems to be good at.

Flyers were outplayed for a good portion of the game last night, but still came away with 2 points. They looked completely gassed in the second.

Also gotta love that ESPN had a picture of Crosby and Malkin celebrating a goal in a 4-1 loss to the Rangers like the point streak is more important than the result of the game.

When the Flyers ended their win streak, the headline was "Crosby extends point streak". They might as well continue that tradition until it ends, apparently that's the only thing noteworthy in the NHL :vulcan:
