2-3. After the Grimjaw Jagerjack fight in Hueco Mundo the series caught up to the manga in Japan so instead of ending the show they inserted a long jarring filler arc that murders the show's momentum up until that point. This is one of the better filler interludes in Bleach though.

I have been really impressed by the animations recently. I certainly cared much more for the Tousen/Hisagi/Komamura story when I watched it. The voice acting and effects added a lot of creepiness.

I also enjoy it to see how the anime is filling in gaps in the manga. It works so well!

Maybe the anime will have the job to fill in a lot of gaps after this latest issue but I am confident that Tite Kubo will fill most of them himself with flashbacks. I am glad that Aizen is out of the way at least for a while and the nakama are all reunited again. It felt so good seeing them together. I especially missed Ishida and Rukia so much!

Hopefully we get a bit of a rest from the constant battles and just focus on some long overdue character development.

289 did look pretty impressive. I'm looking forward to seeing how Tousen is going to be taken out. It should also be interesting to see how Shinji fares against Aizen, though I'm expecting it to be pretty one sided.

The fight against Aizen is heating up now after Ichigo joined in as well. Aizen`s manipulative speech worked very well in anime. This was an interesting look at motivations to fight. I was impressed.

Here are the new beginning and end pieces:

Be aware of heavy spoilering without tags going on in this thread then, since we're on about episode 290 or above.

Where you hear the anime is ending? 15 eps, unless there is zero recapping, won't even get to the end of the Aizen arc. I don't see the anime catching up to the manga until some time next year

As much as I like it, I do really want it to end. So many of these long shows just fizzle our or go on and on for an infinite amount of episodes. After all how do they expect people to buy it if it's so dang long.

if they do end the anime, the last issue of the manga would be a perfect place to finish it. It gives some finality, yet leaves things open if they want to do more eventually. just so long as Kubo keeps the manga going! too many wheels are in motion and the inevitable battle against the royal guard has me ansty

Don`t worry – Bleach is far from finished! We just had the last chapter of the Arrancar arc in the manga but Tite Kubo already announced a long time ago that what will follow next is a short arc followed by an arc that is much longer.

The new opening seems to confirm that the anime will continue without a break until the end of the Arrancar arc. We might get another one-shot filler episode like the one with the magic lamp but this time based on Tite Kubo`s Halloween spread. This could be a lot of fun, too!

This will probably run at least until the new movie is out at the beginning of December and afterwards we will get a long filler chapter.

There is no need to keep Ichigo out of it. Just look how Ishida was handled in the Bount filler and there is always the possibility for a story set in the past.

They won`t take Bleach off the air because in the Japanese TV business this would mean “use it or lose it”. Bleach is a successful series and I am sure the producers want to keep the slot they have right now.

I think another long filler is not very far away and I am already curious what it will be about.

Here is a new trailer of the movie! I love it!

    @ Starbrow

Bleach has a history of long fillers when the Manga gets close to the Anime. I don`t think we have reason to think matters will change now.

    Well… I am optimistic.:D

    @ Zakkrusz

I also think the new opening is excellent. It has an interesting art style and the right balance between making people curious but now showing too much. It is obviously even hinting at things to come that are not out in Manga yet, at least it looks that way to me. :)

I got bored waiting on the anime, so I went ahead and finished the manga up through "current".

I'd wondered how Kubo would solve the problem of "Goku keeps getting stronger and stronger".

Don't hate me for this but I am enjoying the "Look at the Princess" arc on Cartoon Network more now that it is dubbed...

This is the new captain story, right? if so, that was actually a pretty good filler arc.

Well it's better than the Bount arc at least, and probabally the best filler arc in Bleach though that's not saying much....

If the Zampakuto filler arc would have ended as strongly as it started instead of fizzling out I would have said that one was the best but it totally fell apart at the end after Muramasa was out of the picture.
