"I have always believed that writing advertisements is the second most profitable form of writing. The first, of course, is ransom notes..."

After a long (and hopefully profitable!) absence, Ihlecreations stormed last month's challenge, and earned the right to create this month's - one which he also hoped would be 'profitable': promoting Star Trek. It was open to interpretation, and we have as many interpreters, it seems, as the United Nations!

"Bring on the obscene movies, murals, postcards, neckties, samplers, stained-glass windows, tattoos ... anything!"

Entries could consist of anything Trek-related, as long as it made you want to watch, and it looks like we may need some free time for these results ...

All were good entries, but the three that really stood out were Klaus, Ptrope and Starscape. And while I'll concede that Klaus and Ptrope's look more "ad" like in the traditional sense....I like the layout of Starcapes alot, great composition, great picks on the images....first vote of this poll goes to him.

Everyone did a great job this month!

So hard to choose, but I finally settled on The Lensman's entry. That was one of my favorite episodes of TOS, and I've been watching alot of other things lately set in the time period depicted there. So it really stood out to me.

My vote goes to Starscape. IMO his use of colour in that image looks the most professional out of them all and makes me want to watch the Cage again. Well done :)

Voted for B.J. Thought it was a very nice design with clear, stylistic imagery.

    Klaus's was a close runner-up.

I really like Klaus's entry, but it's for ENT, so I wouldn't be watching it anyway (tee-hee); my only concern is that the placement of Archer makes him look like he's Earth's head :D.

I also really like The Lensman's book cover - I'm a sucker for pseudo-covers, both viewing and making them, but didn't think it went far enough to be an advertisement. Still awfully nice work, though :bolian:.

Ultimately, I voted for Starscape - I like the layout, the color, and especially that he used a similar, if not identical, typeface to the titles in the original pilot; nice attention to detail :bolian.

Congratulations, Starscape! Not only did you promote Star Trek admirably, your skills also worked to give you the win for the challenge! Now what are you going to do? ;)

Thanks to everyone who entered, and to Ihlecreations for promoting this challenge - we may not be good at math, but at least we can 'ad!' :D

    I'm on a horse.

Wow, thanks for all the votes and kind comments, everyone! :techman:

When I was putting my entry together I didn't even contemplate the possibility it might win.

It was a very strong field of entries this month, I hope I can inspire the same again for October's challenge.

I'll have the next challenge thread posted soon.

    Thanks, again...
