I find it interesting that J/7 is tied with J/Torres.

    Not I

I've seen those two shippers duke it out for years now. They have always been about equally popular. :)

I voted for J/7 I think Seven helping Janeway with her pips was my fav subtexty scene. I also think Seven and Torres could have worked but they didn't get enough scenes together. Loved it when Seven asked Torres how she did her hair.

"Have you ever considered trying it yourself? Romance I mean."

Oh yes, that is a lovely scene. There should have been more just like it.

    I always did like Canadians!

I got to say, one of the best J/C episodes was in season (?) 5... and I'm not talking "Timeless" (Although that one does have some very lovely moments.). I'm talking about the nearly universally decried "The Fight".

We see touchy feely Janeway go into freaking overdrive with Chak in several sickbay scenes, and the final bridge scene.

Of course I voted Janeway/Chakotay, but there are a couple of others I've been playing with in my mind. Harry Kim/Tal Celes (and I have really written some romance between those two) and Seven/Mort Harren. I think the last one would have the potential of really great fireworks.

Voted for Janeway & Chakotay and Paris & Torres. IMO, the slight edge goes to Paris & Torres, as I found their pairing the most believable in the show. While I like Janeway & Chakotay, it did seem a less likely pairing to me, but certainly more likely than Seven & Chakotay.

IMO I think people consider the Doctor equal to human because he's made in our image. What makes the doctor different than someone in a coma is a brain wave pattern. What makes the doctor any different than Flotter? Nothing. The doctor is equal to an interactive video game. He's an advanced SIMS game. If the Doctor wasn't made to look like a human, we wouldn't be having a this debate.

If the Doctor has rights and can be equal to human, then a holograhpic being like Flotter has those same rights. Where do we then draw the line on what is sentient life and what is not?

Sorry folks, back to favorite couples.

Ah thanks, we Canadians always like to please :)

But I agree about "The Fight", loved it for the touchy feely moments as much as watching Chak box ;)

Methinks a lot of people need to look up the meaning of the word "subtext" because it means intentional nonverbal storytelling introduced by the writers or actors, not bollocks made up by perverts in the cheapseats who want to will impossible relationships to play out.

And exodus, giving a vibrator the ability to "talk" diminishes the Vibrator, and the Doctor's personality even more so, it's like going to a cheese cake shop, and asking if they have any cheese cakes made from cow dung.

    Q. Why do women bother with men?

    A. Because vibrators can't mow the lawn.

A shame I just noticed I could have picked multiple answers. I voted J/C but always thought the EMH/Denara romance on "Lifesigns" was one of the most well done love stories in all of Trek.

What is it that has people interested in fictional adventures by fictional characters in a completely made-up world, flying in imaginary ships and meeting non-existent aliens from made-up planets? Why are some people fascinated by that fictional world that they would spend hours and hours debating things like this world's imaginary economical and social system that was never even properly established or seen on the screen, or go on and on about the biology of the imaginary alien races and argue over whether they could 'realistically' procreate with humans or not?

As for the question, well, I wouldn't call myself a shipper of any VOY characters as I was never that invested in any of the relationships, at least not in the show itself, but I'd choose Janeway/Chakotay who had lots of chemistry (though Kristin Beyer has portrayed their relationship better than the show did), Paris/Torres - one of the few well developed romantic relationships in Trek, EMH/Denara Pel (one of the best one-off romances in Trek, or should I say, one of the few good one-off romances in Trek), and EMH/Seven. Ballard was a great character, but I didn't buy her romance with Harry and I thought he was a bit dull for her.

I still find C/7 a likely pairing when you get into the psyche of both characters.

Seven thinks as a drone, so she ranks her potential mates by status and skill more than emotional compatibility. So to her on Voyager, Chakotay is the Alpha male. She picked him because of what he is, ships Commander. Chakotay is the highest ranked & skilled officer on Voyager.

Judging for Chakotay's choices in women-Seska, Tessa & Virginia Madsen in "Unforgettable". Chakotay is just looking for a playmate. Chakotay has been a private but non-long term commitment based when it came to women. Judging from "Endgame", Seven brings out something in Chakotay that finally makes him want to settle down.

However, if Voyager played out longer it would be interesting to see if the relationship was meant to last.
While Trek has done the start of relationship well, we've never seen one between two main characters break up. It would be interesting to see how they'd handle two characters that have to work together endure a relationship breakdown.

Thoroughly agree kimc - I think it was probably the best love story certainly in Voyager and I'm struggling to find a better one in TOS, TNG, DS9 or Enterprise.

Danara Pel is one "alien babe of the week" I would have welcomed into the Voyager family.

The EMH should have beamed HER aboard, when he beamed the serum over in "Resolutions". Surely she wasn't long for this world after the Vidians found out what she had done?
