Was it Michael Dorn? It sounds a lot like him, though more in the Marcus FO2 kind of way rather than Worf.

It was probably Will Wheaten. THeres another thread talking bout how much voice acting he did for the movie.

How do you know? I've read it in a few places, and it sounds a lot like him. It'd explain why they changed his voice from the trailer too. Wheaton did it and we didn't realise it for a while.

Wil did the Romulan background voices on the Narada, but AFAIK that was it.

The IMDB says it was an actor named Jeremy Fitzgerald.

It didn't sound anything like Michael Dorn (or Michael Dunn, for that matter).

Didn't someone in the audio-commentary (I think it was Abrams) say that that is his voice - but that could have been a joke...

But Memory Alpha says that the voice was that of J.J. Abrams, altered.

I've seen that reported somewhere else recently, as well. It may be stated in the Extras. [Edit: ST-One is thinking of the same thing, looks like.]

I was gonna shout out in protest when I read the voice is JJ's, but then I saw the word "altered".

I've listened to that man's voice so often via dvd commentaries I'd recognise it anywhere and anytime.

I'm curious as to why they originally had the cop sound like a robot/android ( in the trailers), but for release made him sound more human. With that headgear/mask, i can't believe that the cop could be human.

A little electronic or digital signal processing can easily render even the most familiar voice unrecognizable. These toys can be fun to play with.

True, but it would have made me soooooo happy to hear that cop say something and recognise JJ's voice. I'd have squeed right there and then! :D Though I guess he sounds too easy-going for a badass robocop.

It's the little nerdy things that make life worthwhile.

Maybe there's an outtake somewhere with the hovercop doing a filtered version of that human beatbox thing J.J. does. Maybe someone will fabricate one.

See I was just thinking the cop could've been Pike. With how these meetings happened in the movie, It very well could have been a 20 -30 something Officer Christopher Pike. Don't most Naval officers have backgrounds in the Police Force?

It just so happens I'm watching the movie with the commentary right now, so I backed up and listened for what JJ says, which is: "That's my voice, by the way." He doesn't qualify it as a joke, although one of the other guys chuckles a few seconds later--whether in response to that comment, or something else, it's impossible to tell.

He, he. I'm watching the movie again as well! It's at the orbital skydive scene.

Pike was probably already in Starfleet at the time.

Yeah it did, I listened to it a few times and it sounded a lot like him.
