I like that. In JJverse, Tiberius Kirk would have been a Captain himself. NuKirk would be like the young Knight getting advice from the seasoned hand, not unlike the ending sections of Boston Legal.
As long as it has real impact, real dig to it. And, there could be some hilarious interactions with Prime Spock and JJverse Tiberius.
I'm all for it. And I think Nimoy is the only actor from STXI that could counteract Shatner's hamminess.
    BRING ON THE SIDEBURNS!!!

    NO. No way. Not ever.

This sounds awful to me. Regrettably, Trek has more than its share of awful...

I wonder how he will feel among the young actors if they asked for his assistance or is that a lame idea

He could be Admiral Kirk of the Alternate Timeline future. It would be cool to see him in a Trek film again...

He could play a lounge singer on Risa. He would do "Rocket Man" of course; followed by "Oops, I Did it Again".

Shatner will do it if he's offered enough cash. Once he says yes, he'll ham it up and make his role memorable...that's for sure. But it's GETTING him into the movie that is an issue. But with new TREK films having budgets that make even an ambitious ENTERPRISE two-part episode look like a Third World indie film, there should be enough money to toss around to give him what he asks for.

That is a pre haloween statement that is PURE eeeeeevil.

In fact the Abramverse should be used to wipe voyager off the face of cannon.

Given the way Shatner presents himself these days, I would really have a difficult time taking him seriously. He's become such a comical figure in the public eye that to see him jump back into the role that made him famous would, at least to me, seem very out of place.

And someone earlier made a post about his appearance. I completely agree even if it seems mean-spirited.

He wouldn't seem out of place at all. It's called acting for a reason. Shatner would be fine.

I hope so. I would really like to see him in one more Trek film. He should play Jim Kirk though, not a relative or another character. It wouldn't do him justice if that happened.

TREK #11 had a $160 million budget. If #12 has one even remotely similar, they can afford to pay Shatner. Provided he doesn't make an obnoxious ass of himself during negotiations and screws the pooch by being too demanding and bossy.

He doesn't have to appear on screen his voice could be used at the beginning and the end of the movie.

Let's remember his character is dead in his time, so for him to appear on screen MUST involve either time travel, or another parallel reality....wait isn't that what we now have maybe old Kirk doesn't die in this reality as he died in the old reality.

    There is the loophole.

That would be cool, if he did "Space...the final frontier....", most probably for the last time. That has heart. But I'm not opposed to him playing an older member of the Kirk family. Another Prime - JJVerse crossover (old TOS Kirk played by Shatner) would be...pretty dicey...I'd rather not see that happen...

I said it right after XI, and I'll say it again... I really loved seeing Nimoy in XI, but now the new group needs to be left to do their own thing. No more Nimoy, no Shatner, none of the original group. The torch has been handed off and now they need to find a way to make the movies go on without trying to pull the old group in. And in all honesty, the only ways I can think of getting Shatner into the movie seems like it's just doing it for the sake of doing it.

I see your point...but these guys aren't going to be around much longer...let's face it. Can't the torch be fully passed when the original fires have been extinguished?

Kirk can be brought back easily. It's sci-fi! They could bring another version of him out of the Nexus. That is, say that inside the Nexus, you exist in infinite versions of yourself. The one that came out for Veridian 3 is dead, but another Kirk is experiencing joy inside the Nexus, say, with two Orion chicks...

Or since Spock came from the future, he could do some calculations and bring a Kirk from the future using a bird of prey around the sun...
