    For those interested parties ...

A limited edition dvd of the director's cut (Wednesday's long version) is now available at Wal-Mart. And only Wal-Mart. It's five dollars, and includes the director's version of the episode (complete with extra song), a "Dance Boot Cam" featurette, "Deconstructing GLEE with Ryan Murphy" featurette, "What is GLEE?" featurette, and "Sneak-Peak of Episode Two."

Also, if you buy the dvd, it comes with a coupon inside. Each coupon has its own individual code, and you can go to www.gleetshirtoffer.com, put the code in, and they will send you a free Glee tshirt. They pay shipping and everything. Five bucks for the dvd and shirt? That's not a bad deal.

And yes, I did just get from Wallyworld, having bought the dvd. Why do you ask?

Just saw the Tweet-Peat. Not bad. Actually quite good and I got some chills listening to Rehab and then really big chills during the Don't Stop Believin' number. The only negative thing I think is as a 25 year old guy, watching a show like this might not be in my demographic. This could be like teenage version of High School Musical and I'm not sure if I want to tell my friends I like this show. Still, might check into the second episode to see more.

Yes it is, but I guess my mood at the time allowed me to look past it. Still, kinda wish now I had seen it normally in May, or Fox would do the pilot and then the new episode without all the disruptions.

Heading to Wal Mart now...this will be a fun show on so many levels.

Looking forward to it. Hope the Pres. speech on Wed doesn't pre-empt it.

Update: Got it, only two Wallyworlds to do so. Have registered for my T!! Whee!

I'm sorry but if you are 25 and still worry what some "friends" of yours think about your TV viewing then you need to grow up and just enjoy life. Sheesh...

I'm sorry, but if Jane Lynch can't help me pay attention to this show, then I guess I'll pass on the rest of the season.

Musicals generally, just don't translate to the small screen very well. Remember Matthew Broderick and Kristin Chenoweth in The Music Man and Jason Alexander in Bye Bye Birdie on ABC?

    [shudder]

And I found all the HSM movies almost unwatchable. Except some of the dancing was phenomenal.

I just don't find any "high school club gets no respect but wins everyone over" movies very appealing. Cheerleading squads, marching bands, and now Glee Club. They all just seem really insincere to me.

But then I'm a real old fart who has been writing musical theater for 30+ years and seen decades of this kind of stuff on the screen and onstage.

And were I a TV director, or director of photography, there's nothing more I would enjoy than having the bottom fourth of my shots covered with Tweet shit.

I get that, but ... is this a musical? Yes and no. Unlike HSM or Cop Rock, or The Producers, people do not spontaneously break into song. With the exception of the girl who records her singing to post to the net, or the guy singing in the shower (and don't we all do this?) all of the singing is done during a musical class.

The same could apply to any tv show, since "bugs" seem to be appearing during all shows these days. But the "tweet shit" did not appear during the initial broadcast of this show (May, 2009), nor did it appear during the second broadcast of this show (last Wednesday). The "tweet shit" broadcast was heavily promoted letting people know what to expect, and telling people how they could participate.

If it was done during the initial broadcast, I could understand your complaints, but the third time the same episode is broadcast? Sorry, I don't see your complaint as being valid.

I really don't understand why people are up in arms about the whole twitter thing. It was promoted heavily as a way to connect the cast with fans of the show. It was only that one night and we're not going to get it with initial airings so I don't see what the problem is. Personally, I thought it wasn't a bad idea, but the execution could have been better.

And the onscreen "conversation" was just inane. I could almost hear the now-standard Valley dialect. And it covered MUCH more of the screen than the standard network crawl crap.

Just not my cup of tea is all.

I have watched the Pilot on Fox twice now, once in May and once last Wednesday and i have no clue what you people are talking about.

If they had some shit on the screen then watch it on Hulu. or the other 10 times they didn't show shit on the screen.

Musicals aren't really my thing, but I actually enjoyed that movie and was disappointed that it never came to video, cuz I wouldn't have minded seeing it again someday.

As far as the Tweet-peat thing goes, I hate it. None of these people have anything interesting to say and it takes up way too much of the screen. If I were interested in what these morons had to say on Twitter, I would just read it online. If I'm watching the episode, it means I want to watch the episode with as few distractions as possible.

I enjoyed the show immensely. The characters are stereotypes but done with an earnestness that makes it work. The musical numbers are wicked fun. I haven't been this charmed by a new series since Wonderfalls. The moment that totally sold me: the kid in the wheelchair singing "Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat."

It's a reputation that is often deserved. I can recall a few exceptions, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Roswell, & Veronica Mars. But generally, most networks don't think they can appeal to children or teenagers without pandering to them to the detriment of any potential adult audiences. (A shocking exception: The Sarah Jane Adventures. It is clearly aimed at children but does so in such a manner that it doesn't insult the intelligence of adult viewers.)

The other problem with some teenage stories is that for some people (like me) adolescence was filled with many "learning experiences" that were too painful the first time around. Once you're past those hurdles, it becomes very difficult to sympathize with a fictitious teenager who acts like he's the only one in the world who has ever experienced these very universal problems. Thankfully, I don't think Glee falls into this trap. It contains enough... glee to carry it though and make it an incredibly fun experience. However, there are other projects that I have had this exact problem with. (Adventureland is the most recent I can recall.)

I'm watching this right now. The Pilot episode that aired last season was a fun watch.

Geeze, that cheerleading coach is militant!

I love the show. It's quirky and legitimately funny, and yet still manages to hit some decent dramatic bits. I think of the characters less as stereotypes and more as archetypes.

I do wonder if we're going to see some focus on the other young cast, beyond Rachel and Finn.

The gag reflex joke last night was worth the whole series being greenlit.

Great episode last night. I liked it better than the pilot.

Jane Lynch owns the show. "Don't cry. I don't want to hear it. I don't want to see it."

I really liked the musical numbers, the lip synching needs improving but it's highly entertaining. And the show is bringing is funny in the details, like the guidance counselor's brochure "Mom is Bipolar and she won't stop YELLING!"
