Someone else asked me this, and it was a pretty tough question, because the man has such a large body of work... My own favourites: Human nature Liberian Girl Will you be there Stranger in Moscow Man in the Mirror Could we please keep this in MISC? As we were able to discuss his death here, I think it might be nice to have a lighter version and celebrate his work.
I don't know if I have 5, but this one is on my list of songs that I'm embarrassed to admit that I like. It reminds me of something nice that happened when I first heard it and now I get all squishy when I hear it. Oh jeez
1. Thriller 2. Beat It 3. Rock With You 4. Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough 5. Billie Jean When I was a kid I had a full on replica of the "Beat It" jacket. I remember that jacket was so cool, and it wasn't some cheap knockoff. Maybe I can find another one...
Let's see.... "Thriller." "She's Out Of My Life." "We Are The World." (If that counts as MJ.) "Black Or White." That's about it....
It's hard to name just five, actually. He really has written and/or sung quite a lot of great songs. Don't Stop Till You Get Enough Thriller Can You Feel It? (by The Jacksons) Smooth Criminal Blood On the Dancefloor (his last good song, as far as I'm concerned)
Human Nature Beat It Rock With You Billie Jean Man In The Mirror After 40 years of this incredible talent, it's very hard to believe he's gone
Nice thread...even though his death has been hammered into the ground by the media lately. Here's my top five list of great MJ songs. "Smooth Criminal" "Thriller" "Bad" "We are the World" "Who is It" Also a nod goes out to "Beat it" cause I used to listen to that song all the time as well.
Too many to list, but to boil it down to 5: Human Nature Man in the Mirror Don't Stop Till You Get Enough Beat It Smooth Criminal Special mention goes to the Jackson 5's I Want You Back
Favourite is definitely Man in the Mirror. Rounding out the top five would be Bad, Thriller, Smooth Criminal & Beat It and I'd also include ABC as a Jackson 5 notable mention.
^ Absolutely agree with what you say about Smooth Criminal. I remember my uncle recorded the video from the TV for me when it was released, and I almost wore out that tape. I was utterly mesmerised. I believe he even patented the dance moves in that one. The costumes and choreography were the most breathtaking he's ever done in my humble opinion.
I really never paid much attention to the creep other than he had some great musicians on his records. I much rather Weird Al's parody songs of him. Those are GOLD.
