    Am I having fun? YES!!
I joined this forum after reading an article about a "new Star Trek movie by J.J. Abrams". The article mentioned www.trekmovie.com as a source... and the rest is history.
I have been a fan since the early 1970s when TOS first started syndication. I thought Trek was long dead and did not know this (or any other Trek board existed) so HELL YEAH, I'M HAVING FUN!!

    STAR TREK LIVES!!!

    Not anymore.

Which of course was the desired effect.

I took my two teen-aged nephews to the film today - neither of them Trek fans. The sum-total of their Star Trek experience is that episode of Futurama and the odd episode or two of TNG on Spike when they were REALLY bored.

And these two guys LOVED this film.

Sorry, Bonz...but Trek is not just for geeks anymore.

Oh, it's a breath of fresh air! It's terrific talking about a Trek movie in the present tense! :D

We coped with 'em when they came rushing into fandom when TNG got popular, we can deal with 'em now! :)

I am having so much damn fun that for the first time in 7 years there's someone other than Will Riker in my avatar!:devil:

Now we'll have to try and don't scare all those muggle-born newcomers away...

What should we show them now, while waiting for the next movie? The Wrath of Khan, maybe?

Indeed, my sister phoned me yesterday and asked about the film, then said "i've seen bits on tv and it looks good". She's NEVER shown any interest in ST before :wtf:

I am having the best fun!

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who's been posting in this forum for all the time of the run-up to the movie. I managed to have fun reading about the movie and not get spoiled about what was happening. Thanks heaps everyone :techman:

I must admit I haven't talked about Star Trek with anyone this much in at least 7 years.

Yes. I haven't stepped foot in any Trek Subforum for three or four years. Nice to see the threads bursting at the seams.

    Then I must be a speed-reader as well? :D

I just let some people browse this forum, for they have only just seen the light of Star Trek. They told me the it looked like a dead board. At least, they think the amount of new posts are not that many.

And I tend to agree with them. While certainly not dead and more active then normal, I'm still refreshing with only five or ten new posts half of the time. And a full day only constitutes a few pages. So while more active, it's still not as active as it could be.

I'm used to boards where a few hundred topics every ten minutes are the order of the day (now thats hard to keep up with). So I say: Let there be more people posting! More topics! More posts! (And let them stop obsessing over minutae!) :D

Nooooo, I can't take it anymore -it's been an hour (or so it feels) since I had time to check my lounge or Misc, and I have only been to Sci. & Tech. for the shuttle launch today...

Yeah, Bonz, thanks, we ARE having fun, no, that doesn't look right! -we are Having Fun! - Yeah, capitalization does the trick ;)

I love nitpicking the movie. It's at that fun point. I'm listening to a podcast where some Trek fans are doing that and it's awesome. Very amusing.

I gotta have SOME fun to get over my sadness at certain events. :(

As your avatar so obviously shows you to be a very attractive Romulan, I'd think the destruction of Vulcan would be infinitely preferable to the destruction of Romulus, the home planet of the rightful ruler of the galaxy. Those Vulcans are hypocritical pricks anyway, they've lost the real Romulan way with all that damned logic of theirs. :D

I don't like the Romulan bit either. Not one bit.

Something inside me also died when I saw that!
But... that hasn't happened yet, has it?
