The Fate of Christopher Pike

Y'know I'm thinking maybe Robau needs some competition in the badass department. Captain Pike = Badass

 

Pike is badass and hot. Robau is just badass.

And now, the universe must surely implode...or a black hole will pull me in...whatever.

I think the whole point of the reboot is so you would not be able to predict anything that happens next. So the writers would not be locked down by anything that happened in the old universe.

I, too, was hoping to see Pike in a beep chair at the end. Alas, maybe next time....

 

Given what we know how to do nowadays in reality, surely we could've retconned in a better cyber-assist communications rig into that chair? (Yes, I know it's been asked a million times already.)

 

I don't think the Enterprise even ends up going to Talos in this new, altered history. The Enterprise isn't even launched in this timeline until 2258, four years after the original NCC-1701 traveled to Talos.

 

Maybe he'll be out of the chair by the next film, who says it's permanent? He could be just recovering from that disgusting slug thingy.

 

The Pike in this changed history could end up living into the 24th century for all we know.

 

He wasn't fully being supported by Kirk at the end when rescued, so i think he'll walk and be seen again.

He was freakin' fantastic and they'd be crazy to leave him in the chair for the next movie.

For once a superior officer we can all look up to, instead of disliking!!!!

 

Yes! I really hope they bring him back, walking and kicking arse. He'd be, like, the first cool admiral in the history of Starfleet. As far as I can remember, that is.

 

The only cool Admiral besides Kirk that is.

 

Yeah well he wasn't admiral back then, but other than that I totally agree with you.

 

Admiral Forrest was pretty cool, and actually had a recurring role in the series as opposed to the typical "Admiral of the week."

Admiral Janeway was..... okay.

Admiral Kirk was awesome. So awesome that he was made Captain again.

Admiral Archer was probably not bad.

 

Now this is an interesting question. In the other timeline Pike did not have a role to play in the development of the Federation and the crew of the Enterprise and Kirk. He has been a mentor and father for him. Wouldn't it be great if he became a regular cast member? And if he does continue his mentoring role, how will that change Kirk from what he was in the other timeline?

But anythings possible now, his destiny could be altogther different than the original timeline. Perhaps he still has a role to play. I'd like to see him if the writers can fit him in without compromising the story.

But Bruce Greenwood was great in this first film, his character was wise and pure starfleet.

 

I'm sorry I didn't make myself clear, but I meant up until that point. Yeah, I suppose Forrest was okay, too.

 

I think Bruce Greenwood captured the essence of Pike accurately. Soft spoken and thoughtful, but not hesitant to be action oriented when the need arises. Not to mention patient....Who felt bad for Sulu when the Enterprise didn't go into warp the first time.

 

Yeah with the advanced technology they have I'm sure it's just to help him recoup.

 

Hell, Amanda Grayson was one hell of a shock for me. I think I stopped myself from yelling out "NAAAOOOOOO!!!"
