Actually being serious now, if I were in charge of doing STXII, I'd completely ignore this movie and do my own rebooted version of The Cage that would really be more like a retelling than a reboot.

I would like to see some ramifications to the changes in the timeline. Such as:

    - What will the Talosians do in this timeline? Assuming that Pike has not been there and the events of Cage/Menagerie have not happened, which (given Pike's condition in this film) seems likely.

    - What will happen to...
the survivors of Vulcan? What will be the outcome of the destruction of their homeworld? What will happen to the Federation in general? Will Tuvok ever be born? :p

    - What about the Whalesong incident (ST IV)? That seemed to depend on Spock's condition at the time. If Spock is so different this time around, how could this proceed?
In one of the alternate Myriad Universes stories, Spock is not around when this happens, and the probe nearly destroys Earth.

Doesn't matter as long as Jar-Jar Abrams and is art department and designers are kept the hell away from it...far, far away from it!

Gary Mitchell and Elizabeth Dehner would be cool for XII, even if they don't cross the Intergalactic Barrier and become silver-eyed "gods." Sean Maher and Alison Mack from "Serenity" and "Smallville" would be my choices.

For star trek 12 i would do something based on the uss enterprise ncc1701-c... basically cause we never really hear anything about it.

For star trek 13 i would do what SHOULD be done, and move on to ncc1701-f or g.

Please no rehash of old TV plots!
It is one thing to use an episode as a backdrop to a new plot (space seed->WOK), it's nother to take an old script and add some splosions...

Blow up the ship, kill all the characters, leave the Federation in flaming ruins, and declare, once and for all, NO MORE GODDAMN MOVIES!! EVER!!

Star Trek is a television show, and has only ever lived up to its potential on television! This constantly trying to turn it into some kind of brainy Star Warsy epic is a fool's errand at best.

I'd then bring back Manny Coto, Gar & Judy Reeves-Stevens, Dorothy Fontana, David Gerrold, Herman Zimmerman, Rick Sternbach, Mike Okuda, et al, i.e., people who really know Star Trek, inside and out, develop a Captain April series for CBS and a direct-to-DVD CGI animated movie version of Shatner's novel "The Return".

really most people would think april who??
knowledge about april is pretty much limited to some of us hardcore fans and those who remember the animated series.
but i could see interest in something involving pike after this movie comes out.

and as long as moonves controls cbs there is zero chance of anything star trek being on there.

That's the reason for the series, to educate the uninformed. :techman:

That's why Pike is April's first officer. :D

Is that why CSI is doing a Star Trek themed episode tomorrow night?

I don't think Les hates Star Trek, he hated how much money Enterprise was hemorrhaging on a regular basis. If he really hated it, he wouldn't have given them that last season to wrap things up, he'd have just canceled the thing outright.

I think Robbie Coltrane (see: James Bond) or John Rhys-Davies would be great as Harry Mudd!

I agree you don't need a re-make, but what, with the new timeline, you have something based on an episode, but it unravels completely differently?

Two words: Killer tribbles. They stay all cuddley until several hundred of them get on the Enterprise, then it's a blood-bath.

-- Seriously, if the next movie can keep the energy of this one and just deepen the plot, all will be well and we'll be talking about our expectations for a third movie.
-- Break the "let's-give-everyone-something-to-do" cycle. TOS wasn't an ensemble. It was Kirk, Spock, and to a lesser exent, McCoy.
-- And, I'm on record for wanting to get rid of the "Khan-like" villains, too. It's getting old, so old. Let's see some real imagination go into the next conflict our heroes face. A real curve ball.

Exactly. "April" never actually existed within continuity and he just wasn't at all interesting in his non-canonical and only appearence - it's hard to establish a character on the basis of a cartoon, after all, which was done in as limited a fashion as TAS was. Just leave the character on the cutting room floor where he belongs - Christopher Pike is properly the first Captain of the Enterprise, and it looks as if Greenwood delivers a performance that should cement that in the public mind.

A WOK/Space Seed remake could be awesome, if it had only a few elements of Space Seed and TWOK (Genesis, Khan, McGivers (SEX!), the Botany Bay and Reliant) and else be totally fresh and new.

But since we all know they'd make the "Augments" a bunch of teenagers, I would prefer a remake of The Cage/The Menagerie or WNMHGB.
Those stories have potential to be successfully reimagined. Spock should not die of course, but the new Chekov guy has "casualty" written all over his face.

    ST XII=REMAKE TIME imo.
Also, Time to bring in Star Trek's "Jokers"
