Hi Yall First time on the forum as i need some advice. Im working on a project that is using interesting alien planets and i wondered if anyone could point me in the direction of some great and classic scence from the orginal series which involve outdoor shots/bad ass 60's sets on planets. Cheers Swin
Welcome! I like the "exteriors" of "Where No Man Has Gone Before" (the disused mining colony on Delta Vega), "A Taste of Armageddon" (the city on Eminiar VII), and "Court Martial" (the exteriors of the Starbase buildings). These are cityscapes and buildings, but to me they always represented that "sense of wonder" that is supposed to accompany the best of science fiction. Good luck on your project! What is it specifically, if you don't mind me asking?
Welcome, Swin. My favorite planet exteriors of the series were in The Cage and The Man Trap. The pictures will be posted over on www.trekcore.com, as was suggested above. Both can be found under Season One. You'll find HD screencaps for The Man Trap, and regular DVD caps for The Cage. There is also nothing more classic than Star Trek's use of Vasquez Rocks in Southern California for planet exteriors. You can find them on Arena, Shore Leave, The Alternative Factor and Friday's Child.
Whoops. I'm embarrassed, Swin, I was unaware of Trekcore. Now that I know about it, though, I think I'll check it out! Thanks Gary7 and Outpost4, I learned something new from you two!
You're welcome, IGOC. Outpost4 made some great recommendations on episodes. There's also the refinery shots as seen in "Where No Man Has Gone Before" and "Dagger of the Mind". But the Menagerie episodes are probably the best for "outdoor sets", as opposed to outdoor locations (barren California landscapes) that look somewhat like an alien world.
