Picard is a Diplomat, something the Federation prides itself on, ergo, Picard is the very essence of the Federation. And he's really smart too!!
The sudden rise of Janeway votes is little suspicious, especially when 4 cadets vote for her in the space of five posts. Maybe I'm just upset that she overtook The Sisko.
What can I say? The word is that some doubt the existence of Janeway fans, so I guess some of us decided to show ourselves Katie
Very well said. As I've said before I wish we would have gotten more of Rabbit in Trek. He was a good character IMO and was very fun to read in the Lost Era novel the Enterprise-B was featured in. But of course I voted Picard.
I've always been more of a fan of Captain Picard. He has a strong command presence. Not a hothead, more of a diplomat. He's not afraid to act strongly to protect his crew though.
Same here. Although I heard about the poll from another board where Janeway fans like to hang. That may explain the spike.
Smeos (John Humble): RIP 090204 I apologize for barging into this thread. I am unfamiliar with the operation of this board style and didn't want to spend the night looking up how to start a new thread. Perhaps one of you will be kind enough to give this news the place it deserves. One of your own, Smeos (a virtual friend of mine from the Delphi board, PC Gaming online) has passed away. I don't know if his roomate has been able to get around, or in his grief, the desire to get around to everywhere Smeos went and pass the word. At any rate, our friend died after a short illness: http://www.legacy.com/can-vancouver/Obituaries.asp?Page=Lifestory&PersonId=123972358 His roomate said they believed it to be a bacterial abcess of the brain. That is unconfirmed, and really doesn't matter now. I miss his wit very much. I see he had about 1,000 posts here. Maybe I'll come back and look for them. I don't know. He was 23.
Context is everything, so I really can't pick one. If it's a question of who I'd want to serve under in Starfleet, for example, it would have to be Kirk. If it's a question of who I'd want serving under me in Starfleet, it would definitely be Picard. If it's a question of who I'd want to go fishing and drink beer with, Archer has a pronounced advantage. If it's a question of who I'd go to if I had a moral conundrum I needed advice on, Picard and Sisko pull ahead. If it's a question of who I thought would be an engaging dinner companion and possible sex partner, Janeway is sharply in the lead. It's an expansive scenario.
Captain, Enterprise-B: John Harriman. Featured in the opening of Star Trek Generations. Played by Alan Ruck. Also "Rabbit" from Twister.
He's a cool actor. Obviously was in Star Trek Generations, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Twister and even had a pretty cool appearence on an episode of The Outer Limits.
