I don't think I've had a bath in more than 45 years. I'm exclusively a shower kind of guy, even though my home has a bathtub in it.

I normally shower, but if I have the time I'll start my shower and after I've washed I"ll just plug the tub and recline as the water fills, and soak . . . then when I let the water drain it feels like I'm being pulled downwards as the water level drops :D

I love soaking in a deep tub with a book, especially now that the weather has turned cold and the smooth warm water envelops my body and soothes my achy bones. Damn my mom for passing her arthritis onto me so young.

For the first month I lived in my new apartment I couldn't find a shower curtain tension rod that would stay in place. So, I had to stick with baths. I finally found a working rod, but the habit's been established and I've only taken maybe 3 showers since.

My deep, long antique porcelain tub and endless supply of hot water have turned this aspect of personal hygiene from a perfunctory chore to a hedonistic experience.

Exactly. I love a hot shower like nothing else. I love leaning against the cold tiles and having that jet of hot water hitting me right in the small of my back.

But tubs? Eww. All that dirty water you're sitting in. Doesn't seem all that great a way to get clean.

I only take a bath if I'm shaving my legs. It's too much of a PITA to try and do it in the shower.

Our drain in the tub doesn't work so it's just showers.

I'd rather have 10 min showers then straight to dinner.

My shower head doesn't work all that well (it basically just points at the wall),so I usually just have a bath.

Also, I have a cast on because I broke my arm, so I can't have a shower anyway.

It's been years. The last time was when my wife and I visited a bed and breakfast. They had large jacuzzi tubs in the rooms.

I might like to take a bath, listen to a little music, read a novel.

Haven't bathed in well over 30 years. I prefer showers.

But soon I'll stop those too.

I prefer showers, but I'll bathe once or twice a week to help me relax. My body is wrecked after only a short few years wrestling so I find it quite soothing.

I wish I could get a nice big soaking tub in my bathroom but alas...its not big enough and those things are so expensive. Especially the one I dream of. The old fashioned soaking tub with the claw feet and the shower attachment thingy...

Whoah. When I started reading this, I thought you hadn't bathed yourself in 6 months.

I was about to be like... "oh no...could trek do this to me too???"

    but anyway.

I haven't taken a bath since the summer. showers, baby!

Showers feel so rushed and if you aren't directly under the stream of water, they're chilly. I can't relax while standing; I have to be lounging.

So much hate for the bath. Wow.

I prefer showers, but after shoveling all the snow today I had a soak in a hot bath.

I take showers to clean myself. It is not meant for recreation.

They should take no longer that 5 minutes.

I'm glad I don't have that attitude because I would be cheating myself of a simple and fine pleasure in life, as well as a one of my only opportunities for much-needed mental restoration. Bathing and showering mean much more than the perfunctory chore of cleaning oneself; amongst the other functions they fulfill are the opportunities to de-stress and provide privacy, from the demands of life.

If I emerge from a shower/bath without such refreshment, then I have failed one of the most important objectives of the bathing ritual.

Prehaps my attitude and practice is borne of my thick head of hair. 5 minutes in a shower wouldn't even get me past the shampoo lather stage, let alone the conditioner I have to leave in for that long and the scrubbing and shaving duties I have to perform over the rest of me.

If I had a nice large bathtub, I might try taking baths again. It does seem like it would be relaxing to lounge around and read or something.

We have one of those standard bathtub/shower combos, and while it's adequate, it's not really something I'd care to lounge around in. Showers are faster, and sometimes baths can be more of a pain to clean up after, anyway.
