I've made a ST (TNG) screensaver. It's not that great but on the plus side, it's not another slideshow. If you want to check it out, here it is: ST-CS_Setup.exe (421kb)
Thanks for sharing! Hope some folks like it. With my mod hat on, I'd remind members to just be aware of running unknown exe files, esp. from new members, without checking them first. I haven't tried this file myself so don't know anything about it, just a general reminder.
You got me, it's a trojan. If you run it, it will upload your credit card numbers to a Ferengi server.
Forgot to mention - setup has a preview option so you can run the saver without installing. I made it that way 'cause I hate having to install something in order to see what it is. Applications are a different thing but with scrs it is not too difficult to implement a preview option and in my modest opinion, every screensaver installation should be like mine.
um, i should probably go find out myself, but..... how did you make a screen saver ? i always wanted to do that.
Well, this particular screensaver was made using a very non-standard method. It may possibly be the only scr made with NSIS, which is a script language intended for making installers. It's not meant for making screensavers and it wasn't easy to make this one but NSIS scripting is a hobby of mine. If you want to make a screensaver, there's a lot of specialized, easy to use software available. For making slideshow-based savers, there's a bunch of programs you can download and many of them are freeware. Also, two great image viewers- IrfanView and Fast Stone Image Viewer can save your slideshow as a .scr. And if you want to make more complex screensavers, I can recommend Axialis Professional Screen Saver Producer or PY Software Animated Screen, but these are not free.
Uploading.com servers (where the file is hosted) seem to be down for the moment so i put it on webfile.ws as well. ST-CS_Setup.exe
It seems my hopes will not have been in vain. Don't wanna jinx it, but finally some decent free hosting.
