Very well put together! FJ's ship designs have always been among my favorites and this makes a great supplement to his work.

Vance, I have tried your link here and it does not work. I ran it against the pdf files on your website and they are fine. I am using Acrobat 4.0 and those work fine. I keep geting an error on this pdf. Could you please recheck it again. :techman:

Hmm I'm using Acrobat Reader 8.0 and it worked fine for me.

I have tried it several times and the results are still the same... nothing. When I try the pdf files on the PixalSaga website those are fine and no problems. This one, I am not getting anything. It downloads...then nothing.

The older ones use Adobe Format 4.0, and the new ones use 5.0 (I believe). Really, you just need to update your PDF reader. :S

    Hey Vance,

I was wondering - have you added the components used for the CL and POL to the toolkit, or are they IP-restricted?

They would be handy for making up FRA ship types, though I doubt my ability to do the Aurorans justice in that regard (not least since I have to wait to get back to Canada before I can check my FRA SSDs...).

Another archive compiled… though I’m really not happy with this one. To be consistent with FASA, I added a ton of ship registries, which I think was detrimental to the project overall. If I do more FASA archives in the near future, I’m likely going to leave the registries out. For Jaynz (which gets revisited next week), I’m culling the number of registries down to something reasonable. 727 Derf class starships was ridiculous...

They're not restricted, but there wasn't exactly a lot of demand for them, either... I'll consider them for the next one, depending on when I can get to it.

Yeah, that is an absolutely absurd amount of ships... and in each class as well... I mean, we never even saw that many ships in the massive DS9 battles with the Dominion! The ships are awesome, I loved seeing the Larson and Loknar, my 2 favorite FASA designs... but yeah, I'd omit the registries next time. :D

I agree, I figure at most 50 give or take is a good number of any class of starship.

Are those registries based on the actual FASA lists, or did some of the names come from other sources?

Both. Most of the Derf class came from auxillaries, worldwide. I used sources based on Dana, etc's, suggestions, though.

    Hey,
Wasn't there a 'Vance's Toolkit' thread somewhere with all the parts laid out?

I see a lot of red X's and some similar designs to what I've seen in FASA for a long time. Can you post pic of the "original" designs?

    Ahem.

I hope I'm not violating any forum rules in resurrecting a months-old thread, but this seemed like the most appropriate place to post this. Anyway, I recently went through my collection of ST ship schematics from all over the web and came across one of Vance's creations, the Kerr class (light tug?). I decided to fool around with it and erased the pod, but thought it looked EXTREMELY ugly that way, so I drew up my own version of it (dubbed the Miranda class for the civilian market) with a few alterations and additions, the most notable one being that the pod is now supposed to be welded to the tug's spaceframe, with crawlways, corridors and turbolifts connecting all parts.

But enough talking! I seem to remember that I need a certain postcount before I can post inline thumbs, so here's the link to my Photobucket account: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v145/Baerchen/Kerr/
