'75 and '76 would have been very short years.
The obvious is no, and also, they were always clueless about DW. Period.
I have no idea what this is about.
They’re saying that if Doctor Who had taken a break after “Revenge of the Cybermen” (which aired April-May 1975) and hadn’t come back until Christmas 1976, they’d have drifted away from Doctor Who.
However, the show has had between-seasons periods this long before, and I don’t mean the sixteen years.

Why would there have been nothing between May '75 and Christmas '76? I don't get it.
Back through the 70s Who aired around 24 plus episodes every year, so there really never was a time when Who felt it was gone to quickly and for too long from our tv screens, but what might have helped was having 40/50 year old plus old actors back in those days, who had stronger knees to help them coop with such a larger number of yearly episodes. Lol
