The Global Football Thread

Sorry to double post.

Yay! Forest 0 —-Hammers 3
That is a monkey off their backs and certainly a surprise result.
Looking at the footy rumour sites ,inevitably the name of “the special one” was being linked to the London stadium and given the way we were going I was prepared to listen. But I think Potter has been granted a reprieve.

I'm still reeling from the 16 minutes of injury time yesterday that robbed us of our first win of the season!

Surprising results today. City definitely not the force they were and that Forest result says a lot about the behind the scenes shenanigans I suspect!

That hit by Dom to beat Arsenal is one of the best free-kick goals I have ever seen. The power of that strike was phenomenal. The importance of those three points, even this early in the season, cannot be understated.

rumours the ref apologised as the added on time was an error.

that said it was a clear penalty for ipswich not given, then travis should have seen red imo

interesting to see if today's result affects the talks at Forest this week. Still think Nuno is angling for a pay off.

Frank Lampard..
I ask you Lord…how have I offended you?:brickwall:
If Lampard leaves a championship club again without finishing the job because of the lure of a former club in the premier league then I hope no other champ club touches him again after he invariably fails at West Ham.

Ambition is one thing but no one likes to be a stepping stone! I still thing one (of many) reasons Gerrard failed at Villa was the whole notion of "oh he'll just be here for a season or two before heading to the Liverpool job".

Nuno free now. Would be a good shout.
Would be a better choice.

Lots of commentators on the Athletic last night and this morning begging Ratcliffe to sack Amorim and get Nuno in! how the mighty have fallen!

Re Nuno I’m not surprised, but I am surprised that they waited so long to pull the trigger, especially it seemed weird to let Nuno pick the Europa League squad first and not include Hutchinson. Much as I think Marinakis is a terrible egotist I can’t help wondering if Nuno was angling for the sack, and whether Hutchinson was the final straw. This has obviously been building for a while though. Maybe Edu was the spark but I’m sure Marinkis rushing onto the pitch laid the fuse.

Given the three names currently mentioned are Postecoglou, Mourinho and Rodgers you have to wonder if Forest are going to implode this season! Obviously you can argue all have premier league experience and have won trophies, but Jose vs Marinakis would probably be worthy of a Netflix documentary! Postecoglou would possibly be the worst choice, if only because so much of Forest's success last season was built on defensive solidity.

You do wonder if Marinakis is just going "Bring me the man who won the Europa League last season!" which will probably work as well as Leicester hiring van Nistelrooy on the basis of two good games against them!

Yep the pitch thing won't have helped. I know they said it was due to concern over an injury but that looks even less believable.

I guess there's the potential for an exciting brand of football, and he does always win something in his second season...(be ironic if what he wins is the Championship title ;))

Please, that would make too much sense for the Hammers board.
Sometimes the decision-making just leaves me with my mouth hanging open.Talk now that we’re about to re-sign Fabianski.:wtf:

Not gonna talk about the Republic going down to Armenia 🇦🇲.
And the only guy to score for us?? Evan Ferguson…

Do my eyes deceive me, or have England played well tonight? Granted, Serbia perhaps haven't lived up to expectations, but England have put in a decent shift.
