Spoilers Andor - Season 2

Which is definitely what he did not do.
I don't think Snoke and Hux deserved respect, with hindsight (a cheap Palpatine knock off and Fascistic blow hard), but he did Luke Skywalker and Ben Solo much more justice (shame about the ballooning media illiteracy). The NR and FO on the galactic stage was never made fully clear, but I get the impression the First Order would easily annex or threaten most planets piecemeal after throwing the galaxy into panic when they blew up a capital solar system to a very young, decentralised polity.

The Force Awakens was an entertaining, deftly confident repackaged homage to the OT SW, The Last Jedi has honestly been the only Disney SW product alongside the Andor series that felt the most like a big budget indie product like A New Hope was, and The Rise of Skywalker was muddled camp with a better story inside it that got horribly compressed, but at least it wasn't boring.

The bullshit with the Fandom Menace, etc, and earlier MAGA blowing up over TLJ featuring an imperfect Luke Skywalker and supporting characters like Rose Tico roughly a decade ago (has it really been that long?!).

Also those types are oddly defensive or offended when that Imperial Army officer attempted to rape Bix ("The Empire and Vader wouldn't allow that!", etc), when we see the original Galactic Empire ruling the galaxy essentially unchallenged until Yavin, Imperial warlords like Moff Gideon, and the First Order commit myriad other atrocities in other media (and I can remember in an old SW comic for Legends where another more implied attempted sexual assault by an Imperial officer occured).

I still half blame Disney. I still remember when, I think, TFA came out and you could get the DVD/Blu-ray in rebel or imperial packaging and the banners all said "choose a side" wtf? Rebels, I choose the rebels, why is this even a question?

I don't recall that, maybe it was a regional thing? The only versions I remember were the Kylo steelbook and the no-frills generic version. ( Not counting 3D which came later )

Did people really say that? facepalm
Yes. People have a wide variety of opinions on Vader and really some push to see Vader in a positive light.

I don't. I blame the rule of cool I've seen dominate fan circles since 2000. The Empire looks cool, they were just fighting terrorists, Vader's a badass, Fett's a badass.

Couple that with the gross incompetence portrayal of the Jedi and the Republic in the prequel trilogy and I regularly saw complaints over how the good guys just don't do a good job.

Longer. When I was a kid in the '90s, in the pre-SE Star Wars revival, there were plenty of Darth Vader, Stormtrooper, and Empire t-shirts and lunchboxes around the schoolyard.
I think the first Star Wars merch I bought was a Darth Vader helmet back in the 70s/80s.
