Spoilers Andor - Season 2

When you realize that their eye lenses in their helmets aren't perfectly aligned with their eyes a lot more suddenly makes sense.

Finished a rewatch of S1 tonight and found myself wondering about something I had rejected out of hand until now: The idea that Luthen Rael might be a Jedi.

1. During his famous monologue, he mentions that he began the fight 15 years before. This is 5 BBY which puts his decision squarely with the fall of the Jedi Temple and establishment of the Empire.

2. His walking stick retracts like a lightsaber into a handle that could be a lightsaber hilt with the kyber crystal removed: the sky kyber crystal he sends to Aldhani with Andor and later, presumably, gets back from Vel.

3. When Saw's people frisk him for weapons, they take his walking stick handle. He mentions to them that they should either take it or give it back. A little extra attention paid to it there. Why?

4. He walks around Ferrix and some other places hooded in a way very reminiscent of the Jedi.

5. We know nothing about his own origins, unlike most of the other major characters in the show.

6. His ship's odd weapon that behaves very much like a double-bladed lightsaber extruding from the sides of the ship, which takes out those two TIEs. We haven't seen a weapon like that anywhere else in SW, except as a lightsaber itself. Even Slave One's seismic charges were different than this.

7. If Luthen is indeed hiding from the Inquisitors in addition to fighting the good fight, he's doing an exceptional job of it. Not a hint of Force use, even during the times he is in mortal danger. Being based on Coruscant so relatively close to the Emperor, closing himself off to the Force as much as possible would be an absolute necessity.

I guess we'll find out on Tuesday. Not expecting any sort of lightsaber action or even Force use, but it would be interesting if, in his last moments, we learn that he was in fact a Jedi all along, albeit one in a very dark mental place. If not, that's perfectly okay. In truth I'd prefer him to NOT be a Jedi because that is the line this show is all about in the first place. But we will see.

this is the first time I believe that a filmed work has completely and unreservedly steamrolled a book (in this case K-2SO's origin is incompatible with the Rogue One: Cassian and K-2SO comic)
TLJ contradicted the TFA novelization, and that was over seven years ago.

Stormtroopers can't hit a blind man on the beach. Canon.
Stormtroopers can't hit a beach.
I'll repost my earlier comments:

Stormtroopers are extremely competent and routinely hit their targets.

Stormtroopers "always missing" is a silly internet joke that has no real basis in canon (although it was parroted in an episode of the Mandalorian) and has gotten quite out of control and quite stale at this point.

It derived from the fact that our heroes don't actually get shot by the bad guys in Star Wars. Big whoop, you could say the same thing about literally every movie, ever.

And, of course, this ignores the fact that the stormtroopers were actually deliberately missing during the back half of the Death Star escape as they were under specific orders to let the heroes go.

So, you could argue that, because they didn't hit Han/Luke/Leia/Chewie, stormtroopers are indeed excellent shots.

No.

So what? He hated the Empire from the outset because it was undemocratic and corrupt on its face. Doesn't mean he was a Jedi.

It's not.
3. When Saw's people frisk him for weapons, they take his walking stick handle. He mentions to them that they should either take it or give it back. A little extra attention paid to it there. Why?
Because he doesn't want his stuff stolen.
4. He walks around Ferrix and some other places hooded in a way very reminiscent of the Jedi.
Really?? Cassian has worn a hood constantly through the show and we've seen about a hundred SW characters similarly clad who weren't Jedi.
5. We know nothing about his own origins, unlike most of the other major characters in the show.
The show doesn't pause for unnecessary backstory for any of its characters, only if its essential to know. We know nothing of Kleya, either. She also has worn a robe.
6. His ship's odd weapon that behaves very much like a double-bladed lightsaber extruding from the sides of the ship, which takes out those two TIEs. We haven't seen a weapon like that anywhere else in SW, except as a lightsaber itself. Even Slave One's seismic charges were different than this.
Slave 1's weapons were totally different. What does that have to do with anything? Yes, Luthen's it looked kinda like a lightsaber. Big whoop.
So, if Luthen is a Jedi, he's not giving off any signs of being a Jedi. Wow, solid circular logic right there!

No, it wouldn't be interesting, it would be awful.

It would be "interesting", but you'd prefer it if it wasn't true. So glad you're taking a stand!
But we will see.
We won't, though.
