Anyone pick up on this latest Kurtzman interview? https://www.slashfilm.com/1233853/a...rs-will-only-happen-if-the-story-dictates-it/ I'm wondering if this and the rumors that there's another big cameo in PIC S3 point to Yeoh.
Maybe, but Kurtzman isn't in the driver seat anymore, so we will see. My bet is still on Star Trek Legacy being next.
IIRC, M.Y. was one of, if not the primary person pushing for S31 to happen. If true, and that desire remains in her, I don't see anything stopping it from going down. She can say yes to a reduced salary, or anything it takes, for 'her baby' to occur.
Led by who? No one in the cast has the Star power to be a lead in such a series. Michelle Yeoh OTOH (Who while doing press for Everything Everywhere All At Once) stated in multiple interviews she hoped she'd still get to do Star Trek Section 31 with Alex Kurtzman...
Weird he's still doing interviews and being paid as if he was in charge. Who's the man behind the curtain?
Paramount has a deal with bad robot so Kurtman's name is still there, BUT they had him shift his focus to Clarence last year which likely helped give space to the more talented Akiva and Matalas to create better shows. They just need a way to keep him distracted and away from any creative stuff on Star Trek.
Conspiracy theorists have nothing on the Kurtzman is fired level of cognitive dissonance presented in Trek conspiracy theories online.
Excuse me. The Kurtzman is sidelined is an impressive level of cognitive dissonance presented in Trek conspiracy theories online. I stand by my above statement. People are trying way too hard, investing way too much in coming up with rationalizations against a man who has no impact upon their day to day lives. People are literally wishing Kurtzman lose his job for making a poor piece of entertainment they don't agree with. They are finding ways to justify it through lack of evidence based hypotheses of Kurtzman's professional career. Devoting a lot of time to someone over a minor disagreement. It's absurd to a number of degrees.
I never said I thought Kurtzman should lose his job, I just want him to take more of a back seat in terms of the creative end, especially when it comes to Star Trek Strange New Worlds and Star Trek Legacy. I think they will do that by giving him miniseries and TV movies to explore his more experimental side with, such as Section 31 & Star Fleet Academy and MAYBE if for once GFR is right, Star Trek: Dominion War.
Which is what he is doing, hiring showrunners who do their jobs. So, he is doing his job and making it a success. That's his job. But, the market is contracting, and I don't expect any new series any time soon.
A lot of youtube doofuses have mined a lot of clicks from screwball hate videos since Abrams did ST09. It's sad but inevitable. If these charlatans really cared about Trek, they'd dial down the histrionics, hatred, and invective and focus more on constructive criticism. In fact, these haters just drive ppl like me into reflexive defense of bad robot and secret hideout.
Indeed. There's not thoughtfulness here; only blind hatred. "Kurtzman is being pushed aside" is a clickbait article. There is nothing to substantiated it, one way or or the other, because we are not inside Paramount's inner workings* *as far as you can prove.
