They keep that under lock and key at Daystrom Station, not at the Museum. ;)

I wouldn't mind seeing basically a more simplified Monster Maroon that has a similar look to the current Starfleet uniforms, where the tops have that off-center wraparound and would still be red but the over-the-shoulder stripe is gone, and there's no longer a belt and the top ends at the waist instead, the collars are still there but are no longer ribbed and the colors are simplified (white for command/conn, gold for engineering/operations/security, blue for medical/sciences) and the complicated rank badges are replaced by TNG-style pips.

Personally, TOS-style rings/stripes (or the convential "up to 4" of modern and historical naval forces) fit the uniform styling better than pips but YMMV.

Sure, but since they'd be representing the transition to TNG-era uniforms, the pips make more sense.

Monster Maroons lasted for 70 years bcs Starfleet had peace treaty - Khitomer Accords. In those Accords there was written that Starfleet will use same style uniforms till 2350s. It has something to do with respect of Klingons.

This is well known thing. I see no need for further discussion.

Well thank Surak you're here to tell us all when we should stop discussing things.
The monster maroons would have been in use during the Tzenkethi War and the Federation-Cardassian War. So you're wrong. Next time, if you want to make an arrogant reply like that, try being correct.

    Actually, that's not necessarily true.

The early TNG uniform appears to have been introduced in the early '50s (at least that's when MA lists them from) and the Talarian conflict and at least some of the Cardassian war were during this period at the latest, for instance the Setlick III massacre(s) appear(s) to have taken place in either '47 or '58.

The idea that the "Monster Maroons" are written into Khitomer Accord is amusing speculation, but very unlikely to be correct particularly as the Khitomer Accords were in effect for the entirety of TNG and the MMs weren't in use then.

We do know from "Yesterday's Enterprise" (and I believe "Tapestry" too) that at some point they modify the maroon uniforms to get rid of the turtlenecks.

Tapestry switched out the turtle-necks for crew-necks, which while a mistake wasn't a truly horrible one, particularly for the exclusively junior officers that we saw wearing them in that episode.

Yesterday's Enterprise getting rid of any undershirt at all (at least that could seen) is far more of a stupid decision.

With that bit as well as the New Jersey's model not being as polished as the others, having an almost temp model quality to it, I wounder if it being a ST: TOS style Constitution was very late change.

In fact I wounder if it was originally a different class and someone changed it to an ST: TOS stye Constitution as an internal joke on a late review cut of the episode and someone went "You know what? l actually like that. Leave it like that!". That would kind of explain both the model's quality difference from the others and Jack fanboying over the Enterprise-A for being a Constitution class while not bating an eyelid at the New Jersey.

Given that the name and registry is a nod to the showrunner Terry Matalas I'd say that's a decent theory.

Why do you treat this as if you've demonstrated an incontrovertible fact other than that they dressed Stewart in a season one uniform for one scene? Are you 100% sure that nothing else in canon contradicts that picture?
