Twenty-five years ago I first heard the term fanservice. It was a promise at the end of each episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion that the next episode would have "more fanservice!" (aka cartoon T&A) Now it's not even red-underlined in my browser and being used to describe Star Trek. The world is strange.

Hmm. I've been thinking about this since you said that, and I'm wondering if the two aren't more directly related than that. If the changelings have been cut off from the Great Link, they may be suffering psychological or even physiological effects. Vadic's little monologue (and her behavior) certainly suggest some kind of pretty significant psychological trauma they are attempting to stave off.

Further, there's a question that's been bothering me since Worf first revealed the changeling a few weeks back. If there is an entire faction of renegade changelings, why haven't they formed their own Link? Not as big and peaceful as the Great Link, but a Minor Link for their own well being? What if they CAN'T? Whatever changes they have undergone that make them more solid may have completely destroyed their ability to link in that way. Which would make something like a substitute incredibly valuable and worth risking everything for.

What if something about bonding with Jack has allowed a changeling to find the peace of the Link WITHOUT the Link? That kind of symbiosis between solid and changeling would be abjectly heretical to a faction that views solids as the absolute enemy to be destroyed. And, if I'm right and something about Jack's Irumodic Syndrome plays a role in whatever is going on, that would also be another reason why the changelings might want Picard's body, as he's well known to have also had Irumodic Syndrome and they could use him for research on the effect of his brain on them. Perhaps even to synthesize a workaround that solves their underlying problem.

My tin foil hat is buzzing with possibility. I'm probably miles off base, but man is it fun to think about.

Revitalized Picard speaks at Frontier Day. “Thanks to the Changelings I am alive. If the Federation surrenders to them we can all live forever.”

He’s both the demo and the speaker. Would be very effective.

I wish these people would wait until the weekend for those who are not from the US/Canada and have to wait until Friday.

I'm not one of them, but I have friends in some of those countries.

Is it a requirement that the thumbnails for these types of videos always have a red arrow pointing to something? Usually it’s someone’s shoulder or something equally random.

    USS Voyager.
She made her name further out than any of those relics had ever gone.
    I was reborn there.
She was my home, her crew were my family.

    I'm not crying you're crying!

No actually I am crying. A lot.

I believe they are referring to the red arrow point to the Kirk?

Another wow episode. This definitely has a final TNG movie vibe about it! Really overdosing on the fan service on this one...but lovely to see all our hero ships here.

Brent Spiner definitely has dirt on some the execs, they just can't get rid of him

Is it me or do I think they are bringing all the original 24th century captains back together...this episode just proved Matalas is crazy enough to do that considering he gave so much of this episode to just straight fan porn either visual or by reference.

At this point I'm about 80% sure Brent Spiner played me at my high school graduation.

Spiner is hilarious at cons. His Patrick Stewart impression is dead on. Playing all the Soongs at once has to be the time of his life.

I'll bet Daystrom Station has Enterprise-C's black box. And Captain Garrett's remains, too. Hell, they probably salvaged the whole ship, reconstructed it, and learned of the rift universe. And they cautiously explore it.

yeah, what is it with Section 31 (and Starfleet) exhuming the remains of certain individuals (IE BOTH Kirk and Picard) and STORING them at a top secret laboratory facility? :wtf::rofl:

And no I'm not gradin g the individual episodes anymore because I'm loving where they are going in that they really are doing things in a way that I as an audience member can't tell what they're going to do to progress the story (Which I love because the Berman & braga era of Trek had SO MANY predictable episodes where even if it was a new episode, you'd felt you had seen it before because they often telegraphed everything or used VERY recognizable tropes.)

They have done that very occasionally in some small parts of PICARD S3, but they're also throwing some nice out of left fiield stuff to keep me, the audience member guessing.

I also LOVED Brent Spiner's performance as the semi/non-integrated Android and it was fun to see him slip right into a VERY recognizable Data, then seamlessly into B4, Soong and Lore. So yeah, they DID get Data into this reunion season in a way that works - is integrated into the story for a decent reason, and was IMO well done.

And the TOS fan in me was screaming YES!!!! - We actually see a true original TOS TV (1966-69) era Starship/Constitution Class rendered on screen in a new Kurtzman era Trek show, so yeah that version of the 1701 DID exist to become the ship commanded by Kirk after Pike, and become the refit version lost at planet Genesis in STIII. And we also see the surviving 1701-A too.

IDK what's coming at this point, but with all they've done it would be said if they couldn't find a way to get a version of Wesley/Will Wheaton and a TNG character played by Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar/Alternate timeline Tasha Yar, or hell even Sela <--- a character I never cared for, but maybe they could make her work for something in this story - I mean hell, they included the !@#$ BoP from STIII/STIV into this whole thing...

Looking forward to the next 4 episodes

PS Also loved when the genetically modified 'Attack Tribble' lunged at Worf.:guffaw:

I don't know. He's got to be close to retirement. So, think of him as an older guy working on older cars in his garage, but instead, it's his job!

If it's Weird Shit, that station appears to have it. You could make a whole series about trying to get the stuff back, a la Warehouse 13, Friday the 13th (tv series) style.

One of these ships is not like the other.

    "The USS New Jersey."

Just wait a second, big things ahead.
