Yeah, it was very dire and I, too, tapped out after the first episode. I could be high as balls on some of my really good weed as opposed to the stuff I usually vape, and it still wouldn't have been funny.
I watched it all, but in two binge sessions, the first when I couldn't sleep, and the second doing chores. It wasn't very good. I laughed a couple times but that was all.
I watched about half of it last night and felt the exact same way. It wasn't Mel Brooks as much as it was a generic sketch comedy series that took its name from a Mel Brooks movie. It was also TFW to me how so much of it was about the Russian Revolution when Brooks himself already did an entire (very funny and very Brooksian) film on that very topic.
Actually, its Nick Kroll, Wanda Sykes and Ike Barinholtz producing and writing. Three talented people but the show is much more their style than Brooks'
