I'm working on my job hunt, and I think I'm gonna just go back to retrail for my paid job. One thing I really want to do is try to volunteer at one of the farm animal rescue/sanctuaries in town, and if I'm going to be working at stables or a ranch, the last way I'm going to want spend one of my days off is working on a farm. And I think getting to spend even one day a week with animals like that, could help to make the regular job more tolerable.

Animal care's weird. It demands experience even for entry level jobs. Volunteering is the way to go (along with apprenticeship or interns in middle or high school- it's possible in some places).

I sometimes miss working at a Zoo or clinic. It's not exactly deaf friendly, as it often relies on fast communication, and most folks already in animal husbandry has no idea how to deal/communicate with Deafies in an animal care settings, even though there are Deafies who owns ranches, take cares of large mammals....

You asking if you can do anything means a lot, but I'm not sure what.

Just did my health tracking for last week. I record a lot of stuff on weekly/monthly/semi-annual/annual basis for a few years now to track my health improvements so I have some positive, quantifiable results to look at.

In December I'd set a record forost avg/sleep per night. The previous record was set a year ago when I had covid.

January beat Decembers record by a couple minutes.

So two record breaking months of sleep in a row.

A good sign. Not likely to three-peat though as my big international trips start on Wed.

Yeah, I've run into that with a few other jobs too. You need to have experience to get the job, but you can't get experience without getting the job, and nobody will hire you because you don't have experience, so you can't get the experience you need to get the job.

I’m so sorry your amazing trip started on such a sour note. I struggle with obsessions derailing my enjoyment too. I do something I call pitting my neurosis against each other. :) I tell myself “This ratfink scores another win against me if they rob me of my enjoyment too.” Then I let the competing obsessions for “fixing it” battle it out; keeping the gremlins occupied so hopefully I can focus on the positive experiences. I hope you have hundreds of positive experiences in Paris (quite possible to do) to balance this ill luck out!

Oh that sucks. Hopefully this is just getting the drama out of the early so you can just relax and enjoy the rest of your trip.

Went to Moulin Rouge after a 2 hour nap. All told aboutb3 hours of sleep now in 37 hours. Was a good show but I don't much care about dancing. The stunts were cool.

Near the end I started to crash and started thinking of the taxi situation again. No other charges have been made to my card so fingers crossed I don't have to cancel. I didn't bring my other card because I didn't want to have both with me.

Had some crepes went to my apartment. Did some CBT worksheets on the taxi. I just can't get it out of my head even though it's not a huge deal and should be taken care of by my back with no issues. Stupid intrusive thoughts. That stuff is always worse when I'm tired. I set my alarm for 6.75 hours from now. Get some sleep but don't lose the entire day/mess up my jet lag schedule change too much.

Day 2 in Paris. I'm really enjoying it more than day 1 (6 hours of sleep vs 0) but I keep having intrusive worry about the taxi situation. I've checked my card three times today to make sure nothing more incorrect has went on it. It's too much worry for a small situation. Worst case I'm out a bit of money which I can easily afford. Honestly, the amount of money even if I lost the dispute is nothing to me, I won't even miss it. So worrying is fucking stupid. There have been no illegitimate charges so I don't think he stole my info and I changed my pin. Checking all this often doesn't help, once a day when I get up is all I should be doing to make sure nothing new has been charged. There's no point in even calling to contest it until I'm at my sister's in Kenya as it's still pending today yet, and waiting until Monday won't make a difference because a 30 or 60 day window to protest (not sure which) so I've plenty of time.

I think it's just because I feel so stupid falling for a scam even if it's an incredibly popular and common one. I did some CBT worksheets last night and they didn't really help. Think I'll do some worry time this evening before my big walking tour of murders and massacres. See if that helps.

Glad to hear you’re enjoying yourself more! I’m going to throw my beloved husband under the bus in an attempt to make you feel a little better. Ready? :)

When we were in Paris, my husband almost fell for a literal shell game. At the Trocadéro Plaza, right out in the open, cups and a ball sort of set up; I mean the 100% straight-up stereotypical con game. Now my husband is a smart man, he‘s an adjunct professor, he’s been interviewed nationally for his expertise, he’s got all the papers to prove he shouldn’t fall for such a textbook trick but he did. To this very day he insists that everyone else kept guessing wrong but he never did so he totally could have escaped unscathed but the man was standing there -with money in hand- and I, on my flipping birthday, on my dream trip to Paris, had to escalate to all out yelling at him like your stereotypical harridan putting a fishwife to shame. It was indescribably embarrassing but I did get him to finally move away before he actually wagered something.

Now, you didn’t fall for anything as transparent as that, did you?

Major anxiety attack. Got notice I can check in for my flight, did it, was told I was missing documents. They needed my vaccine info and visa. So I uploaded them. Was told my vaccine passport was rejected and gave me aink to Kenya's health screening. I did it and it asked if I had a PCR test. I said no, because I have the vaccinations I don't need one. Then I started panicking and started googling and half the spots said I did need one and half didn't. My brother in law just re-entered Kenya last week and didn't need one.

Anyway I got that document and uploaded it.

I got an email saying I now have everything in, I can get my ready to fly boarding pass. I click and it takes me to my profile and it says I can get my pass. I click on the pass and it has a message I'm missing or incomplete documents and can't get my boarding pass. I go back to documents area and it says everything is in. I dunno what's going on and I'm freaking out it's because I don't have PCR test. I emailed my travel agent and will call air France when I can but I'm in line for Eiffel tower while this is all going down so can't at the moment. My sister and brother in law said they've never seen that before

Best case it just needs more time to generate a new boarding pass.

Medium case they just need to see the documents in person at the desk, but why not say that?

Worst case I am afraid I am blocked from going over the PCR test I was told I didn't need.

Also the fake cab charge posted but I can't protest it until the credit card department opens.

How do people go through life without freaking out at things? I wish I knew

Back at the hotel. Eiffel tower took a lot longer than planned due to how busy it was. Won't be going to Roman ruins now but that's fine, time crunches are not in my control and I'm very happy with what I have done.

Took a pill and am on hold with air France to find out what is going on. Hopefully that will be resolved and then calling the credit card company.

I saw them running that game under the tower

    Edit:.
OMG the issue was that their records glitched and deleted my nationality.

    That was it.

There was no way for me to see the error because it was all in the back end.

All the stress for nothing as usual

Edit:. An hour on hold with bank. I have to wait 30 days before disputing a charge. I thought it had to be disputed within 30 days. So more pressure for nothing. They need me to prove o tried to rectify it but it's a criminal enterprise in an another language I can't prove I tried to rectify it. I think I figured out what happened. I tapped first and he said it was declined. He was using square so that happens to me all the time. I suspect that was the 100 euro charge though. Then I paid the 98.4 he gave me the reciept for.

So sounds like I won't win. But I'll try
