When you're trying to replace Nemesis as a story ending, is it at all smart (from a PR perspective) to re-tread the Nemesis plot premise?

"TNG deserved a better ending... so, here's a slight revision of the same one."

No one ever accused Trek writers of intelligence.

I get what you're trying to say, but the way you say it makes it sound like a certain other poster on this board.

I’d say we are far more likely to get Timofnine’s Seven spin-off than S3 having some deep connection to Tasha Yar or the events of “Yesterday’s Enterprise”.

I’m guessing we get neither. Not a Seven spinoff or a connection to YE.

I do think it’s funny we’ve gone from Matalas saying there would be a small nod to Tasha to speculation that she, Sela or a potential secret second child would be a major plot point.

I hope its not a spinoff thats related to one person.
A Star Trek Titan Series with Worf as Captain , Seven as XO and Raffi as Security Chief ist my personal wish.

    What's the over/under for....:

Wesley Crusher is actually Picard's son!?

Why? Because drama baby. It would fit right in the dramatic choices of this series, and there even is kinda' sorta' hints to it in TNG.

Also, and this is just completely spitballing here: The S3 plot will have absolutely nothing to do with the Borg/Anomaly plot of S2. But they will put in some vague references/dialogue hints, to pretend there's some sort of connection.

That was confirmed by Akiva ages ago, shortly after the season ended.

Some other show will pick up the transwarp conduit plot apparently.

He seems to imply that Seven is going by Commander Hansen as well.
I would guess she still uses Seven as an informal name though.

I wonder how much he made up off the cuff to justify the sorta goofy design. Before he started working on the shows again he was more likely to have responded with a snarky post making fun of it.

Could well be, which is in line with what I expect from fan justifications.

It's not off the cuff, Terry said he worked with Doug and and Dave Blass during production to come up with in-universe lore for the ships. Not after, during production.
Plural because Terry said Dave also came up with a backstory for the reused Star Trek Online Elachi ship designs, something about black market trading and such.

Seriously these people are big nerds, coming up with backstories is fun for them. Doug Drexler did the same thing when working on the old shows, and even after.

From what I've seen, Doug and Dave are the kinds of fans that would make up justifications. Probably not Terry, but he is also a big geek so maybe.

The Tech manuals for TNG, DS9 and Voyager were made by people who worked on those shows, those books are basically what some fans do in their spare time.

So this is nothing new for Star Trek.

Funny. I remember an earlier 'justfication' for the Titan-A's design (specifically the round saucer akin to the TMP-era ships) was that round saucers are somehow better for emergency separation and landing on a planet. They seemed to have abandoned that idea, which is good because it made no sense.

I think this is a simple matter of showrunner likes old design and makes new design that looks 90% like old design but with new nacelles, and asks tech guy to come up with some sort of justification as to why Starfleet is all of a sudden making anachronistic-looking ships.
