Is it about the time when Cavill dated a 19 year old when he was in his 30s?

I think he'd make a good Bastion.

 

I'm not interested in Henry Cavill joining the MCU. Frankly, I think he should move on elsewhere.

 

I saw the article before it was delisted/locked.

It was mainly about him developing a toxic attitude towards working with women they were attributing to him being obsessed with gaming and that gamer bro attitude affecting him. It then further mentioned dating a 19 year old and commenting about getting a hard-on in a sex scene*. It did say no one had said he was sexually harrassing them.

* EDIT: re: him getting aroused, he sounded like it was only once, he wasn't "adjusted" properly, and he was embarrassed. It's just one of those things people pretend doesn't happen and they don't like to talk about.

It was a rather questionable piece so I'm not surprised to see it suddenly being inaccessible. If not "questionable" then it at least needed to be treaded on very carefully as I imagine everyone is out for some hot takes on this whole topic.

Strange that the Cavill article is offline now.
Especially since it was more of a summarizing reports from various sources that showed a pattern of behavior.
(I don't know about the trustworthiness of the multiple different articles that were referenced/linked in this piece)

on the top of my head I remember reading about:

• generally not respectful behavior towards women on multiple occasions (on set, during interviews/podcasts)
  
• toxic behavior the Witcher set- especially towards production leads/staff women, wanting more/full creative control, Netflix giving him a final warning after investigations
  
• dating a teenager, about half his age
• him being / becoming a gamer bro (language, behavior, unprepared on set)

While I of course really wish Boseman had lived and we'd gotten him in the sequel, the story they were going to use sounds absolutely rancid. To be clear I'd definitely prefer to have a bad movie and him alive, but I think the story they ended up having to go with is probably a lot better then a movie

Cavill is almost 40. While he's certainly in good shape, I wouldn't want to start the commitment of a whole new action franchise at his age.

 

How old was he when he dated this girl? I dated a 19 year old for a little while when I was 32. And afterwards I dated a 46 year old
I can’t speak for the other stuff, but that alone really isn’t a big deal and is a strange thing to bring up to try and discredit someone. Unless you’re some hardcore puritan or something I find it a trashy tabloid way of commenting on people.

 

Yeah, if she was 19 when they started dating, then she was legal and I don't see what the issue is.

Yeah, I think that's happened a few times. It's kind of funny, because I just watched the movie The 13th Floor for the first time, and there's a part of the trailer that spoils the big twist, but I didn't realize it until I watched the whole movie, because it seemed pretty harmless without the full context behind it.

 

Ummm... He's the same age Harrison Ford was when Raiders of the Lost Ark came out.

 

Liam Neeson was 56 when he did the first Taken movie, and Keanu Reeves was 50 when he did the first John Wick.

 

I mean even within the MCU Chadwick Boseman was 39 when he first appeared as a supporting role in Captain America: Civil War and 41 when Black Panther came out. Marvel certainly was intending to have him as one of their main heroes in the post Robert Downey Jr/Chris Evans MCU.

Benedict Cumberbatch was 40 when Doctor Strange came out and while he's not an overtly 'physical strength' guy, he certainly has his character doing a ton of action and impacts.

 

Yup. Actors aren't athletes. They have stunt doubles, and these days they have CGI doubles too. Quite a few action heroes over the decades have been played by people who weren't very strong or healthy. For instance, Michelle Yeoh, who's built a reputation as one of the greatest screen martial artists of all time, went into acting because of a spinal injury that kept her from becoming a dancer. You'd think martial arts would demand better fitness than dancing, but film is about creating illusion and controlling what people see, so physical shortcomings can be hidden, and stunts can be choreographed to work around a performer's physical limitations. Heck, Yeoh is 60 and she's still doing kickass fight scenes.

 

And then there's Tom Cruise.

 

Daniel Craig was about 37 when he landed the Bond role (and was the youngest debuting 007 since Lazenby in the late 60s). He went on to be the longest-serving incumbent, albeit that No Time To Die was delayed by Coronavirus,

 

Robert Downey Jr. was 43 when "Iron Man" was first released in theaters. Daniel Craig was 38 years old when his first Bond movie, "Casino Royal", premiered in theaters. Brandon Routh was 40 when he reprised his role as Superman/Clark Kent for Arrowverse's "Crisis on Infinite Earths". If Henry Cavill is in good shape and still looks good, what is the point of replacing him at this point?

How do you know that the MCU would have gone ahead and used this story if Boseman had done a sequel? Or if the T'Challa role had been recast? Strange, "Wakanda Forever" has been receiving critical acclaim, yet I've come across complaints that the movie is not as good as "Black Panther". Or it was serviceable.
