Not sure why you're laughing. HD footage is better quality than the SD footage of the original release.

The Protostar was also represented by an upside down Prometheus.

I don't think we can take that literally.

I prefer all the versions. Que it up and let it roll!

It absolutely is. It's owned by the copyright holders who get to declare it canon.

Whether fans prefer this or another version is up to them. Has no bearing on the canonicity of the work.

Makes sense for how the Diviner sees her.
    Clearly a mirror vessel!

THE DIVINER: Just what do you mean?

THE DOCTOR: You're trapped in a temporal paradox. The Protostar didn't cause that social implosion which started your wars. You did it yourselves!

If it's on screen, it's canon.

    Sorry.

You don't have to like it, but saying it's not is something you should wrestle with internally rather than pour it out all over a forum about something else, and the truth is that NONE of this is real, it's a TV show, regardless of how much we might want it to be real. So if tomorrow Spock and Kirk are women, and it's on screen as an official piece of media from the franchise owner, then that is canon, too, and nothing you say or do will change it. Get used to that. Reconcile it with yourself, just don't keep making it look like you're having a hissy fit in a forum about a kid's version of Star Trek.

THE DOCTOR: I'm on a special mission from Admiral Janeway. I'm no fan of temporal incursions, but someone removed my ethical sub-routines. I hate it when they do thatt!!!

And let's be frank here: some of the Remastered visuals are outstanding.

    What about her?
    ;)

The only history in play is that of the franchise. TOS-R is part of that.

Nobody tell them that TNG Remastered changed planets and some effects and graphics.

Dunno if I was a big fan of the episode being about 95% backstory. But the episode was fine. The first one in a while that didn’t feel like it moved too fast.

Jankom’s backstory was the most fun with him being an Archer-era Tellarite and finding out why he says his name so much.

Chopin's Prelude #4 played by Janeway at the start of the episode, was also played in a piano recital at 19m30s in the TNG episode The Masterpiece Society. Right after the start of the recital, the habitat is rocked by a MoabIVquake.

Incredible what a kid's Star Trek show can do in 22 minutes... all characters given their due backstory, remaining true to the personalities as developed so far. Classical music, another cool name aside from the Deviner in the Vindicator, and a loud belch from the blob character as an explanation. The graphics for the Deviner backstory were different in a wholly cool sort of way... and the overall plot actually required an attention span to follow without being convoluted... yes, only a backstory episode, but I thought exceptionally well executed...

The insect in the Medusan expedition story was eaten by something similar to a hengrauggi from Delta Vega :D

A Prometheus class starship making first contact with Solum is perfectly fine/acceptable... but whats confusing was seeing exact same ship represent the Protostar (couldn't they just take a sillhouete of the Protostar and put it in place of the Prometheus in the second appearance when the wormhole deposite the Protostar on Solum? It really doesn't take a lot of time to do that).

Oh well... at least we do know a lot more of how things came to be.
I think the conclusion to the Vau'N'Akat story arc might be in the works by the end of this season (and won't be extended into season 2).

However, we still have no idea if the living construct will remain on the Protostar or not... or whether the Protostar itself will end up destroyed with the said weapon or not (generally speaking, its not really the TV show's intent to destroy a vessel that's been used as a setting for a given main cast and not continue to use it for the duration of the series - the only exception to this case was the Defiant's destruction in DS9 during the war, but as we saw, it was quickly replaced by an identical starship [Sao Paolo] which was renamed into the Defiant - who knows, maybe the same thing will happen here - aka the original Protostar will be destroyed and SF will replace it with a new Protostar - its not like SF couldn't do that, and they should be able to recreate the Proto drive as well - this way the kids could be placed onboard as SF academy cadets in training under Vice Admiral Janeway or someone else - possibly Tysses - although it WOULD be interesting to have Chakotay rescued and resume his command as their captain and Prodigy expanding on his role in the series which might eventually see the return of the rest of VOY cast as Mulgrew hinted at before).

A total change in setting in S2 (away from the Protostar) would also be interesting for the kids. Prodigy certainly doesn't seem to shy away from that (we've already had split scenes between the Protostar and Dauntless that added more depth to it - I always said that Trek series could benefit from showing for example 2 starships working together on missions - which again is something VOY could have done with the USS Equinox had it not been destroyed - Chakotay could have been placed as a captain of that ship and serve as a support craft for VOY - it would have certainly expanded the series at the time and characters roles).

Will be interesting to see how things conclude for this season.

i suspect that could be intentional, especially as the Prometheus is upside down in addiction to being the wrong ship in the first place.

The Vindicator’s account of history is clearly very warped, unless Chakotay usually goes around doing evil grins these days.

some details could be intentionally wrong, just like some where in Picard’s dream at the beginning of Picard season 1.

I've noticed the Prometheus sillhouete being upside down too... that was another thing that was odd about the whole recount.
It could have been intentional for the purpose of showing the warped perspective of the Vindicator, but it could have also been a mistake from the art dept. (which would kinda be a big mistake for something like this... but these ARE the same people who portrayed the Diviner at the end of the 10th epiosoe without his suit alone on Tars Lamora, and then in a coma in his suit when the Dauntless found him).

So, even Prodigy isn't immune to making such obvious mistakes... but we'll see if this gets expanded upon (although I don't think it will - it was a recount, so that's pretty much that).
