I never considered that curbside pickup could create an unfair advantage for anyone. Maybe it's different in different areas. In my own experience, there is never a fee associated with it unless you order less than the minimum which is around $30 worth of groceries, and the store has to employ people to gather all the groceries for these orders, and the pickup area is a small zone off to the side that doesn't get in anybody's way. Trying to see if Walmart.com will do a price match. Got the "after careful consideration" stock response from the chat agent about them not being able to do it, yet here's the thing -- I never even told them what the item is or which store I'm trying to price match with. All I did was ask if they price match. It's like they're being run by an insurance agency.
Do they still price match in the stores? I thought I heard a while back that they stopped all price matching.
Yeah, that happened in 2020. The website says in-store will price match Walmart.com (as long as it's not a third-party seller). Walmart.com, however, price matches some competitors if the item is in-stock.
Talking to my IP lately I was told my wifi modem was 9 years old and updating would be helpful for clearing up some of the problems I was calling about. Sure, I said. Let's do it. Recommendations? I asked, assuming she'd know the best unit to match their system. Turns out, there are units on the big box store shelves that have their Co name printed right on them! Couldn't be easier! Wrong. The "perfect replacement" for the old unit was not a combined wifi modem. It was just one half of the system, I still needed to buy the other half separately. But, of course I did not find out until I got home, set it up and called them to connect it to the system. Took them 45 minutes to figure out the model they recommended to me as the perfect fit, wasn't. They were very sorry for the misunderstanding. Back to the big box to exchange. So back at the store I am explaining what happened to the young, helpful, educated floor salesman. Oh my, how unfortunate a misunderstanding this all is. Smiling from ear to ear, he tells me he'll fix me up with the correct unit and have me on my way lickety split. So, back at home, I set the new unit, which btw was $35 more expensive than the last, up and called my IP back to connect it. Nope. Still wrong. They were very sorry for the misunderstanding. Back to the store. Fuming, this time I got a manager to help me. And he did, his recommendation clearly stated its capabilities on the box, (without my IP name!) and only cost a mere $40 more than the previous two combined. It seems to be a fine unit, correcting all the buffering errors and slow performance of the old one, but connecting all my internet do-hickeys took two days to figure out and set up. Easy connectivity. pfft. TLDR: Arrrrrgggghhhh!
Not so much frustrating as depressing. Found out from my mechanic that a shop owner I used to deliver parts to, died suddenly of a heart attack a few weeks ago. Last time I saw him, he was getting ready to sell the business, retire and possibly move to Arizona. He was not much older than I am and left behind a wife, children and grandchildren.
I would gladly pay extra to be on a flight which was limited to passengers older than, say, age 10. It would greatly decrease the likelihood that some ing snot-nosed rugrat would be kicking the back of your ing seat for the entire ing trip.
I was at my local Safeway yesterday morning and as I was loading my groceries next to the curbside pickup, the store employee came out to the customers car and as she was preparing to load them into her car, she asked the customer if she wanted to inspect any of the groceries before she put them into the back seat because she had to make substitutions on a few items because the ones the customer ordered they didn't have in stock. If she didn't like the selections, she would remove then and credit the customer's account. The customer said, "I trust you", and that was that. P.S. My sister in law works as an assistant management at another Safeway and does grocery shopping for online orders. She's never encountered any problems with customers complaining about substitutions and most of the people she deals with are elderly, have mobility issues, or are imuno-compromised, so online shopping is actually beneficial to them.
I saw a nurse practitioner (not doctors were available) and got all my COVID leave paperwork filled out, and went back work yesterday, but I couldn't finish my shelf. I started feeling like crap after a while, and finally about 3 hours before I was supposed leave I couldn't take it any longer and decided to go home. It took me another hour before I found a higher up to talk to and go home. I'm really kicking myself, because I was a little hesitant jumping right into a full 9 hour shift, and I should have just gone with my gut. After I saw the nurse practitioner, I realized I should have had her get them to give me half day shifts for the first week or two. I did manage to get through a little bit longer walk with my mom and the dogs this morning. I'm thinking about trying my first shorter bike ride tomorrow.
Oh bloody HELL. I am really done with employers who expect us all to submit to (re)infection without complaint or concern. And not only to submit ourselves to that, but others known to us as well, relatives or not. No, I am not explaining further.
No, it's Wal-Mart's fault I got sick, because in the 5 or 6 days between when I got hired and got sick, it was literally the only place I went. We took the dogs on another long walk this morning, and I made it through a 2 hour bike, so I think I'm pretty close to being back to 100%. The only thing left is the cough, but I think that's going to hang around for a long time.
Wanting to get up and go to my computer but for the past hour, I've been sitting here watching the evening news. Why? Because Junior sat in my lap for a brushing and then fell asleep. I don't want to wake him but I'm going to have to get up and make dinner soon. Plus, Junior is a big cat and my feet are starting to go numb.
With dogs we call that puppy paralysis, so I guess in this case it would be kitty paralysis. Really dreading going back to work. The last couple weeks before I went back to Wal-Mart I had thought about asking if the stables or riding club I go past on my bikes needed help, and I'm really wishing had. Given the options, shoveling horse/donkey shit, giving them food & water, and moving them around from theirs stalls to round pens and corrals, sounds a lot better than what I'm doing now.
Yes. More to the point, I want the mask rules for public transit back in force. Please. It will make holding down a job a little safer for me and others I regularly keep in touch with.

The company I work for is a model of inefficiency--which is odd, since all the work is done online. You'd think that would be easy, but....no. We are supposed to log in at start-time, read the materials, look at examples of each level of said materials, pass a short quiz and then proceed to work. If you don't pass the quiz, you can't proceed to work. The system won't allow it. So, the geniuses at corporate decide to update the whole system and how users access it. Good idea--the software is a good 10-15 years out of date. They decide to do all of this not only when the majority of people are working (the weekend) but also on the only day when NO ONE is at the home office---SUNDAY. They didn't do a test run of said upgrade, as nothing is working. I reached out to my team supervisor for the day and she can't even get past the start page. I was able to get in and reach the material but it won't let me submit scores, so I'm stuck on the first quiz example. My supervisor says there's no one in corporate to answer the phones, and the tech support line has a wait time of up to two hours. There must be 40/50 people all trying to call in to get help from two poor saps who probably have no idea what the hell has happened. Fuck it. I'll just sit here until I hear otherwise. I get paid either way. So far, it's been an hour and half. Still waiting. Good thing I get paid by the hour.
