....I'm thinking if we get a flashback on the D bridge or in a museum it will need a major update. Definitely lots of led lights to illuminate displays. No incandescent lights....

I’m not sure why it would need any update whatsoever. The whole point of seeing it again is to see it how it originally looked.

They won't update the D. Not in any serious way. If there are any differences, it'll be because they couldn't get it 100% completely accurate. It'll be something like 99%. The differences will be honest mistakes or easter eggs thrown in that almost no one will notice except for the most eagle-eyed.

Do they not have Mike Okuda and the old TNG/DS9/VOY designers working on the ship designs in the third season?

At the end of the day, TNG got off lightly compared to TOS. That's just the way it is.

They're trying to reach people who are my age, who watched TNG as kids. Yes, I personally like TOS better than TNG, but I'm talking about demographically. We're in our 40s and still marketable as a group.

Paramount+ wants us to buy all the stupid products they're pushing. Yay, us.

Strikes me as kind of missing the point in terms of what they are doing with Picard and their stated efforts of highlighting the history of the TNG crew and last last ride, rather than updating it. To me, it speaks to the untenable position Trek writers are put in: keep it exactly the same while updating it.

Well, we could always not play. :)

The last time I bought something advertisers tried to market to me was Crystal Pepsi. Or maybe Caramello. Either way, it was in the early-'90s.

Sorry, but I'm not buying a fucking SUV. :p

Would it look more like what we saw in Generations? Because that's the last time we saw what's left of it.

that’s what I’m wondering. Will it be the updated (and better looking) bridge from Generations. Or the more well known/famous version from TNG S2-7 that had the different side walls.

my money is the tv version since it’s what people are most familiar with.

Lol. Crystal Pepsi was disgusting. Though, I'm not one to talk. I used to do the sampling and marketing for Pepsi in my wayward days of my youth.

Besides, you have one 1,000* chance of winning that SUV! ;)

Why not touch it up like what was done on the Stargazer? A little of bit of nostalgia and a little bit of something new? But I'd rather have the introduction of the 1701-F commanded by Worf.

The incandescents dont fit with todays or current or pastTreks lighting. We use LEDs on almost everything now. So the Enteprise D must be better lit. Yup. ..lol
If the 1701 can get a whole line of forward windows and re-scaled and no one bats an eye. I think better and brighter lights would be in order for D.

Oh and a briefing room as well. The one they had was tiny compared to Discos and SNW Briefing rooms. So maybe make it wider with more displays. Also the puny sick bay needs to be at least as big as SNW....

The lights or lack there of from Generations or improved lighting from what was seen on tv series? If you're looking for atmosphere, gels and retouching the paint could create a look, but what kind of look you're expecting on the Enterprise? New or established?

Since it's in a museum, and being shown for nostalgia purposes, it will 100% look like the bridge from the show. No updates, no Generations modifications, no bloody A, B, C, or E.

Indeed. It will be to tickle the nostalgic vibe for warm fuzzy feelings.

    Different lighting, I can see.

The rest of this is just histrionic bullshit. They've already shown Ten-Forward in this series. It looked pretty much the same as it did in TNG. The outward appearance of the E-D when we've seen it in PIC is the same as it was in TNG. The TNG Uniforms we saw in the first season of PIC during the dream sequences are the same. They even had an episode where Picard looked at a photo from "The Best of Both Worlds" when he was Locutus.

You want the Enterprise-D to look as different as possible so you can then turn around and say it wasn't just about updating the look of the original Enterprise in DSC and SNW. No dice.

You know there's a difference between the perception of how the '60s hold up and how the '80s & '90s hold up. Even if you don't agree with it, you know the perception is there and you know that TNG had higher production values than TOS. You just can't say it because it destroys the hyperbolic case you're trying to make. "They'll change TNG just like they changed TOS!" They won't. Unlike you, I used examples directly from PIC itself.

If they were really going to do what you're pretending they'll do, Worf would look like a Disco Klingon. He doesn't.

I'll bump this thread in 2023 when PIC Season 3 starts.

It's the odd ship out now though.. Now that TOS-1701 has been updated....I think the D should be updated as well. It would look out of place now that stuff like LEDS and window view screen with all kinds of info were available during Kirk's time and old Picards time but not TNG time....???. The exterior really doesnt need any updating though. But the interior definitely. Everything appears smaller in D than 1701 now. Yet it's a larger ship.

I do hope they remember to add the stations that were put into GENERATIONS set on either side of the bridge. That was a good update. Made the bridge look more spacious...

And why would they do that? Those additions weren't retroactive.

Yeah the viewscreen is a glaring problem now. How can the snw viewscreen be so advanced but TNGs much less so because? It's just a giant TV screen never used a lot of graphics during tng or the movies. They'll have to at least redo the viewscreen to fit into the new continuity. They probably will. These guys love their window vuewscreen combo's.
