The Bajorans are one of those aliens that are so deeply woven into the fabric of the Trekverse at this point, it becomes tricky to draw the line on what counts as a Bajoran episode. Like with the Cardassian episode list when it was first created a few years ago, hashing this one out was particularly challenging. Hopefully the final result feels right to everyone. I am first going to save "In The Hands Of The Prophets." It is so hard for me to really love a non-cliffhanger Berman Trek finale, but I love this one! A perfect capstone io the season, and a fantastic introduction to Winn (and Bareil). I don't know where to start. So Duet is a huge episode for Kira, so that can be my first pick. She goes from being out for Cardassian blood, and she has someone who has confessed to war crimes. An open and shut case, obviously. She comes to learn the actual truth of the event and finds herself sympathising with the man who couldn't bring himself to be associated with Marritza. Of course, the end, where Darheel is murdered by the Bajoran is so brutal. This is difficult as there are so many good episodes, but I'm going with one that delves into Bajoran mythology/prophecy and is on the fun side (rather then one of the occupation horrors), DS9: "Destiny". I love the different interpretations of the prophecy, the original "Vipers" (before that silithium comet stole the title), and Kira's belief/faith. "Accession" is a longtime fave of mine, one of the most pivotal episodes in Sisko's journey. Kira's struggle with her faith versus her total lack of ability or inclination to follow her d'jarra is also great, and I like how Keiko understands her husband's needs better than he does. One of DS9's most underrated efforts, I think. Always in my top tier: TNG Season 5: "Ensign Ro" Ro is refreshingly different and Guinan reminds, yet again, that she's far more advanced than the enlightened clique on the bridge. Ro clearly has a concience as she is showing remorse over her involvement in the deaths of the crew, no matter how indirect. And then there's Guinan. Ro spills the beans? And with 90s hair that makes her hairlicopter do more interesting. Now imagine 3 years of Ro with that 'do. She could easily act around it and make it that much more dignified where anyone fresh out of acting school would likely get carried away by it, and probably would make "ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-whirrrrrr" noises between outtakes too, though it'd be saddening if anyone hadn't. "Preemptive Strike" - Ro is an interesting and complex character and she and Picard fail to communicate well in this episode and it reminded me of Star Trek VI where Spock and Valeris fail to communicate well. This episode makes me quite emotional. Blind ghosts with clothes are cool! TNG Season 5: "The Next Phase" The acting's pretty solid, especially for such a high-concept episode. Romulan treachery is back - yay! The incidental music is so completely refreshing, adding much to the presentation rather than detracting from it. It's quite a change from the latter-half of the show's run. The episode starts out with a bang, and then we end up with something even more bizarre: We never really found out what Riker said (boo!): The obligatory Data moment that's actually quite good: The fact they mention not having eaten for 2 decades or whatever makes ya wonder what else they weren't able to do thanks to the phasing stuff...: (But, yeah, this is better than Neelix's "Mortal Coil" moment...)
