Thanks to a YouTube retrospective review of 'The Last Starfighter,' I just learned that Meg Wyllie, who played Granny in the movie also played the first Talosian Keeper in the pilot episode.

C.C. Beck's inspiration for the appearance of the original Captain Marvel and the actor I've always felt looked the most like the character as drawn playing father and son? Interesting.
We all call the character "the Keeper", but onscreen they're referred to as Magistrate.

Just in the middle of an SG1 rewatch, and Dwight Schultz (Lt. Barclay) makes an appearance as the "Keeper."
    It just works!

    Both.
In "The Cage" the character is mentioned as a "keeper" twice by Pike, but not as a proper name ("Is the keeper actually communicating with one of his animals?", "Back in my cage, it seemed for a couple of minutes that our keeper couldn't read my thoughts.") In "The Menagerie Pt. II" " Spock refers to "The Keeper" as a proper name ("You have no choice, sir. I'm sorry. The Keeper has taken over control of our screen").

Interestingly, the script for "The Cage" identifies the character as "The Keeper", even if he/she isn't actually referred as such to by name in the script's dialog itself.

I don't think that was meant to represent the official title in-universe, though, just Pike's nickname for the Magistrate. (I mean, I doubt "Third Survivor" was an official title either.) Spock using the title in "The Menagerie" seems like a script error, though I suppose it's possible that he was influenced by Pike's usage.

And the Kalar warrior wasn't literally "Neanderthal" as well. But it's still interesting that the script uses the title "Keeper" and not "Magistrate". Perhaps because it's easier to type?

More likely because it's in keeping with the "Cage"/'Menagerie" theme -- the Magistrate is metaphorically the zookeeper to whom Pike is one of his caged exhibits. But that theme is metatextual, while "Magistrate" is the Talosians' own title for him within the story.

When you create a fake image and put it on the Net without explanation, it's a joke to you, but it's a lot like forgery for people who don't know. And there have been enough editions of TOS on home video that even the fans can't be sure of anything.

We watched "The Man Trap" as our summer rerun tonight (historically, there was no Trek tonight, but I run my own station and can do whatever I want). Funnily enough, on the historically run Dragnet rerun tonight (67-01-12), there was a certain Man Trap star...

KIRK: Him? He's harmless. Back in the sixties he was part of the Free Speech movement at Berkeley. I think he had a little too much LDS.
