Hulk AND Superman on the same streaming service? I'm liking this crossover potential...
(Obviously a joke, but it would be awesome)

    Although the article's:

"On the other hand, negotiations with Universal have not been as fruitful, resulting in the character only making supporting appearances in the MCU which voids Universal’s distribution rights provided the Hulk stays away from the lead role."

If the distribution / negotiation issues prevent Disney from having the Hulk in any solo productions, then Disney may be acting out of spite when The Incredible Hulk is technically "theirs" to use/promote, hence the reason the Abomination, et al., will appear in She-Hulk.

Regarding using footage, Disney could--but will not--shoot new flashback footage distinct enough to avoid any perceived issues, yet get the narrative point across to bring viewers up to speed with the Hulk's earlier conflict.

Tatiana Maslany was on Colbert last night:

In addition to announcing that she quietly got married recently, she talked about the show addressing why She-Hulk has the "she" in her name and why she becomes a calm, intelligent Hulk right away as oppose to Bruce who took years to reach that stage. Her explanation makes perfect sense.

Were people actually questioning why She-Hulk is called She-Hulk? As far as I know, Marvel Comics/Stan Lee wanted a female Hulk character (I don't know if it was specifically a copyright protection thing like the creation of Spider-Woman was, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was a factor), and probably put less then five minutes into thinking up names before getting to She-Hulk. In Universe, anyone could tell she's related to the Hulk, but she's also obviously not him (and is a woman) so taking Hulk and adding a gendered label seems like a pretty obvious thing to do, in her specific situation, to set herself apart from Hulk.

I don't see how anyone wouldn't get why she has her name. Do people also wonder about Batgirl/Woman? Or Supergirl?

As for why she's not angry, there have been various reasons in the comics, I just think that she doesn't have Bruce's intense psychological baggage. Even then she was a bit "Savage" in her early days, although she was still intelligent and spoke in complete sentences, she was just a bit of a jerk personality wise as She-Hulk during the beginning of her first run.

In the MCU I'm sure its going to be a really stupid reason, based on the terrible show runner.

I think it does. Our culture simultaneously gives women a lot more reason to feel angry and frustrated at the world than it gives men, yet penalizes and judges women more for letting that anger show outwardly. So women have to learn to act calm and rational even when they feel like going on a rampage.

And just in general, men in our culture have less awareness and insight into their emotions than women do, because our culture raises men to be ashamed and afraid of their own emotions and to avoid thinking or talking about them. And so it's plausible that Bruce just didn't learn the skills to manage his emotions until later in life.

Granted, that seems to disagree with the idea of Banner and Hulk being alternate identities of a person with dissociative identity disorder, but the MCU doesn't seem to have embraced that idea to the same extent as the comics or the Ang Lee movie. Sometimes Banner and Hulk have been portrayed as if they were different people, but sometimes the Hulk is treated more as an extension of Banner, like "I'm always angry" in The Avengers, or the way Smart Hulk behaves.

I'm reminded of the pilot of the Bill Bixby series, which established that David Banner had anger management issues even before an accidental overdose of gamma radiation altered his body chemistry. Indeed, it was his poor impulse control that led him to rush into dosing himself with radiation in the first place.

Why would I watch the interview? I'm not going to watch the show, so why would I waste my time on the actress spouting whatever corporate lines she's been fed? I mean I like Colbert, but not enough to tolerate the Orphan Black woman.

Although, if what other people have mentioned she said is the reason the MCU She-Hulk is not an angry/dumb hulk, then that is 100% what I'd expect from the person who wrote "Pickle Rick". Shitty psychoanalyzing is that writer's forte. Its also completely unrelated to the comic reasons, which make sense because none of the people working on the show have probably ever even seen a single comic book in their life, much less read a She-Hulk comic or even read a damn wiki. The MCU really shifts between "Showrunners/Directors/Writers who care about what they're doing" and "talentless hacks who get hired because they're cheap and Feige doesn't really care about the property". It makes me wish Scott Buck came back, even he would treat She-Hulk better then Pickle Rick woman.

Anyway, my earlier post wasn't even really about the show, it was more about She-Hulk in general, and mostly focusing on the comic. I'm not going to watch the "She-Hulk" show, although I'm going to stay angry that my favorite Marvel hero has gotten so fucked over.

Disney tried to write the 2008 Hulk movie out of existence? Yet, at the same time, allowed William Hurt to appear in three other MCU films? It seems as if Disney Studios, as usual, is constantly inconsistent with all or most of its franchises.

Why are you so rude? Use her name. And why are you complaining about something you're not even going to watch? What a waste of time on your part.

. Then do us a favour and don't do it here.

It's an exaggeration. Even the Harlam battle from that movie is referenced. They're consistent enough as any other long running franchise is.

The Incredible Hulk is not being written out. It's just referenced like every other movie in the franchise: not at all until there's a reason to.

It's like saying "See? Iron Man 2 isn't referenced every seconds in the other MCU movies, it means that Marvel is trying to cancel it!!!"

It's like his thing for virtually every series out there. Why he does this, I have no idea. Some form of masochism?

Fans like being angry. It gives a sense of purpose to stand up against the damage, perceived or otherwise, that somehow ruins past stories. How is a mystery.
