Bernard Cribbins, who was Wilf in nuWho, a role which he seems to be reprising for Russel T. Davies’ return to the show, and who was in Daleks’ Invasion of Earth, has died at the ripe old age of 93 https://news.sky.com/story/veteran-actor-bernard-cribbins-has-died-aged-93-12660433
I hope they got enough in the can that his last work can still be seen and be a decent tribute to him.
I think that leaves Jim Dale (86) and Leslie Philips (98) as the only surviving Carry On actors of any wide recognition.
RIP. He'll certainly get an In Memoriam credit for his appearance next year. I wonder if he had anything else in production at the time? Wikipedia doesn't seem to think so, so this could be his last acting credit. Mark
Damn... This slapped me harder than I expected. I'm sitting here a bit...numb. I wonder if all his scenes for the "special" were completed, or will they need to alter the script?
"I thought it'd be cleaner." RIP Sir. You were one of the highlights of the nu who era. I still remember when he knocked four times. We didn't think it would be you.
No, no, no! This isn't allowed. This will make his return as Wilf especially hard to watch. I also wonder if he recorded anything more with Big Finish since he already did one Tenth Doctor set (and was amazing, of course). Damn. This really sucks. Rest in peace. Thank you for the endearing adventures.
I wonder if they might have to do a catch up scene. The Doctor says goodbye to Donna and her family ending on a good note. We fade to black. A new scene where Donna's family and the Doctor now at Wilf's funeral.
Dammit. The last few weeks have been BS. Still, 93 is a pretty good run. Don't forget, the man was a singer back in the day.
I didn't realize he had a few hit songs in his pocket, albeit they were mostly comedic. Lovely little live performance gem here from 1975. Sad day. He was truly magic on Doctor Who. There's a lot of it about
RIP I don't know his non-Who work, but he's probably the most memorable recurring (non-companion) character in NuWho (since I count Jack as a companion), and he was always great.
