Has anyone else heard any confirmation that the Rick/Michonne show is not a limited show other than EW?

Everyone is making a big deal that the Walking Dead has lost so many viewers. It must still be pretty good for it to have all these spinoffs.

It has lost tons of viewers but it's still I believe one of the most viewed show on AMC.

The low ratings the show gets on AMC in recent years is mostly a reflection of the fact people don't watch shows on cable that much these days. It does record breaking numbers on AMC+.

Every time they're is walking dead news 90 percent of the comments are "lol that show is still on? What a joke!". It's basically the classic rock of genre shows, holding on to past glories while greatly overstaying it's welcome. I'm still watching, but I'm honest with myself.

Its the same with Star Trek, losing viewership is part of the business, but with new material the company gain new viewership. Wash, rinse, & repeat...

I gave up on The Walking Dead the season Negan arrived. Not because I was salty about him killing Glenn and Abraham, but because the show was so BORING and they'd have stretches of three to four episodes with no Jeffrey Dean Morgan. I watched the season finale of Rick and Negan fighting to see if it was anything like the comics, then I quit.

I also quit Fear the Walking Dead season five-ish, where they were fighting Matt Frewer looking for the oil refinery. They're in goddamned TEXAS. It shouldn't be too hard to find an oil refinery

I'm going to try the Negan New York City spinoff because I'm a big Jeffrey Dean Morgan fan and I hope they won't make it dull and have him wandering around in the woods for episode after episode

No woods in New York. More likely underground sewers to keep things on budget.:)

Well... There is Central Park, which I would assume by this point would have exploded into as nasty a forest as they could imagine. But yes, I expect there to be plenty of subway tunnel jump scares.

I was soooooo looking forward to the last half of this season being The End but nooooooo, they had to go announce another 6 episodes featuring Rick and Michone streaming on AMC+ next year. :censored::brickwall:

So... Will this new miniseries NOT be shown on regular AMC? We MUST purchase yet ANOTHER goddam streaming service for this (or not)?

They also mention that the mini will "start with six episodes", with a possible intent for more if it works out for them. As irritated as I am about it potentially being exclusive to AMC+ (pending verification from the author of the article) it really is a slick business move to do it like this and get people signed up for that streamer. The Rick/Michonne 'ship has always been a fan favorite, for the most part. I doubt if I'll do it, I have too many streamers as it is, but I do wish them well and hope that one day I'll get to see it on plain-vanilla cable TV.

...but--but, someone informed us of TWD being as much of a ratings repellent as CW's DC shows, and needed to be cancelled because of it?

    Hmm...

I have already warned my wife that I am spending the extra 8 dollars a month for AMC+. We just switched from cable to youtubetv and saved over 100 dollars a month. So it is a fair deal. Lol

I don't have cable but I have been purchasing the season pass on iTunes. I hope they continue the season pass for this.

Comparison to DC CW shows is apt. TWD is still doing (much) better than any CW DC show, but Fear is not.

    Season finales:
    Superman & Lois 0.82 million
    The Flash 0.56 million

    The Walking Dead 1.61 million
    Fear The Walking Dead 0.71

So, for a cable show, TWD is absolutely doing great, even in season 11, BUT there was a point (right before Glen was killed) that it was literally the #1 most watched show on TV. Not on cable - all of TV. I don't think I've ever seen, or heard of a show that went from such peaks to just being "good" in the ratings department without getting cancelled.

BTW the comparison is also apt because both CW DC shows and TWD have alternative revenue streams.

5 to 6 years ago when TWD was at the top TV was much different. A lot more people had cable yet. Netflix was around but most streaming channels were not up yet or very new. I have been catching up on TWD on Netflix for example. Will get AMC + to get caught up when I get to season 11.
Someone here said that TWD is doing very good for AMC+. Maybe I should say AMC+ is doing good because of TWD?
