he said someone from TNG that wasn’t a primary cast member was returning. But the person playing the villain had never done Trek before.
Holy shit! Holy shit! Holy shit! Holy shit! I know you the teaser isn't much but it is also so damn much too! So Geordi is a father - Brahms to be the wife? Worf - I think there have been some minor tweaks to the make up (I'm not sure what specifically and it may just be age but it looks great) and he just looks awesome. Dorn has kept himself in shape. Now the question is, what has he sacrificed? 7 I think had 3 pips so she has got her commission and at a fair level for her experience (possible a time jump?) Raffi I think may have left Starfleet due to her being in civvies Only character not seen would be Spinner's and the unidentified person Matlas mentioned. Hoping it will be first quarter of 2023 as the principal filming etc has been done so should just be VFX. So excited!
Kurtzman said at the Con that she is a Commander. ETA: Terry Matalas has confirmed it: https://twitter.com/TerryMatalas/status/1551430849693831168?s=19 Don't assume. Trek likes throwing out red herrings. Remember the broken Bajoran time wheel from last season that went nowhere? ("Oh! They're bringing in Deep Space Nine!" Not. )
She certainly has more military experience than Kirk did when he entered Starfleet (eighteen years with the Borg plus four on Voyager).
Aye, wasn't sure whether one was a half pip for LCdr or full CDR so thanks for the conf. Aye, I know they like to put a twist on things and Raffi did seem to have returned cleanly in S2. I just wonder if they rekindled the relationship between Raffi and 7, and with 7 finally getting the role she felt she deserved, if Raffi might choose to leave SF to travel with 7 (rather than having to work together which can strain relationships). As you say - we shall have to wait and see
I know. Should have just made her a Starfleet officer to start with instead of this Fenris Ranger nonsense.
She wasn't ready. She wasn't ready psychologically. She had a lot of stuff she needed to get out. She needed to find herself. Who is she apart from Voyager and the Borg? Who is she as an individual?
Spoiler If the leak about the decade time jump is true, there's a lot of leeway for the creatives to move the characters into new positions without having to actually deal with anything from S2. Seven could have done whatever education was deemed necessary to get into Starfleet and been working her way up the ranks, Raffi could have decided Starfleet wasn't really working for her and found another path, Laris and Picard can be a thing of the past, etc.
Dr. Pulaski would make sense to me and something really special as Diana Muldaur stopped acting in 1993.
I didn’t say he did it on his own, but I am pretty sure those characters are something he had a proper hand in yes. Particularly Riker and Troi.
Denise Crosby is the only TNG regular not yet confirmed to be in Picard if you also count Wil Wheaton's cameo last season
While I don't disagree with you how you describe Seven's psychological state and journey, however, what makes Seven at the end of Season 2 any more ready for starship command than she was at the end of Picard's first season? I would've rather had her working either in Starfleet, at the Artifact, or Daystrom Institute instead of a Fenris Ranger from the start of PIC. That felt more like something Raffi would've been doing. Also, I feel Raffi is just as ready, perhaps even more ready, for command than Seven, at the end of the second season.
