I don't think that's ever going to happen with part-works. The subscribers pay for the production costs. If they had a warehouse full of parts for the whole two year programme that would be a colossal up-front cost which would leave them absolutely screwed if they weren't able to recoup with enough subscribers.

The other thing that may be holding up the subscription builds are the magazines. They are apparently having massive troubles getting them printed and delivered - much more difficult than getting the actual models done. They are more critical to the build subs because they’re primarily used as instructions for how to put the thing together. The ship collections can live without them (annoying as it is), but the builds cannot. Now, we are getting PDF downloads for all our magazines. I see them doing this if things get really bad.

I would accept this as an option if paper magazines were not available and holding back deliveries. I’m sure that many other people would too. But only as long as they *promised* to send the paper versions when they became available so that we can complete our magazine collections in our binders/folders. If this is the case then perhaps they should send out an email offering this option? At the end of the day, I would rather have the model completed than the magazine collection.

This! As a collector I would be very upset if they stopped issuing the magazines. I can't believe more people aren't more upset by their discontinuing the mags for the Star ship line. Thankfully I received a magazine with every ship from the main run to "complete" my collection.

I can’t speak for how Eaglemoss plans to handle the E-D build subscription, but they specifically told ship subscribers that they would only get the ships and not the magazines. They would not be keeping track of the missing magazines for the ships being sent out and then send those later once they were in stock. Fortunately, I was only missing two towards the end (I was one of the first when they started the line), so it wasn’t a big deal to find a duplicate of the final ships with the magazines on eBay to complete the set, then flipped just the individual ships back on eBay (whichever one that had the higher serial number). So, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but they’ve pretty much deprioritized the magazines in favor of the models. :(

Edit: Here is my post in the Eaglemoss thread where I pasted the content of the email I received from Eaglemoss on the matter: Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Fair warning: I was NOT happy about the announcement and was quite irate at the time of my posting. ;)

Well, if that is what the problem is (and yes, I also heard that paper is becoming a scarce commodity these days), there's that simple solution of a PDF file. I agree with @Timofnine that they should then deliver them after the fact, but primarily we're in this for the Enterprise model.

But speaking of the magazine, I do look forward to the episode guide part every shipment. These are the best-written and most informative pieces I've ever read on TNG episodes. In fact, on just about every episode, there's some info where I go "I can't believe that in 30+ years, I never knew that". Apparently, Eaglemoss will be making that info available to everyone when they release their season-by-season books starting in the fall.

I love the episode guides too. I’m actually really interested in the Eaglemoss books though I already have some of them in the form of the Star Trek Factfiles. However, I would subscribe to a Star Trek book collection where a new book from the series is dispatched each month. I bought Star Trek on VHS, then DVD and now digital so I don’t mind doing the same for the written material. I could do this manually and purchase one book per month, but I would probably forget. I can’t buy all the books in one go either because of the price, and I wouldn’t know where to start. A ‘Star Trek’ book club subscription model would be really cool though. :bolian:

There's a Star Wars equivalent of that as a partwork right now, but I wasn't willing to commit to that. I believe the TNG season-by-season will be something like the "Celebration" books they did for Voyager and TOS, just greatly expanded because they'll be doing seven volumes. And there will certainly be new material in there too because as extensive as the episode guides are, one season wouldn't fill a 300-page book.

The Fact Files, I had them too back in the day, but they became so unwieldy, so I appreciate that Eaglemoss took the best parts (which were the isometric views of ship locations) and collected them in the Handbook series. Excellent.

Apparently some people have magazine issue 21 on the way and have received a notification. I will confirm when/if I get a similar notification. :bolian:

Just received Magazine issue #19 but... there was no magazine! My first thought is, "Uh-oh, it's the Starship Collection thing happening". I called Eaglemoss and thankfully it appears there still are magazines for this build-up it just wasn't in my box. It is shipping out along with another binder that I was supposed to get awhile ago before I even received the stand. Speaking of the stand, has anyone else gotten theirs? It seems awfully flimsy to me but I didn't really take it all out and assemble it.

Yeah, pretty flimsy. But what's even more flimsy and cheap is the cardboard cover for the tripod. That doesn't look good at all. I hear they'll be offering the deluxe stand with the mirror base and lighting as a special at some point. I might as well pay extra for that to get a base that does justice to the model.

In any event, I still wonder how they want to support the model with this one rod that will sit in the underside of the stardrive section. I can't see the saucer holding on to the rest of the ship with all its weight.

I plan to get the deluxe stand. However I literally have nowhere to display this model when completed haha! It is currently at work. I will find space!

I’m not worried about this model working out, because someone designed it and built a prototype before this project was started so it obviously has been quality checked. It *has* to work as a finished product and I believe that it will work out or else Eaglemoss/Herocollector will have a lot of unhappy customers, they don’t want that surely?

Look what I got this morning in the post…
    7D1CEF67-1DB9-4B3C-A86C-EE107E27A3A7.jpeg
it is a part of the Enteprrise D subscription but an optional add on which I wanted like the shuttle craft.

I have not opened it yet but I hear it is based on the Star Trek Fact Files. I shall be comparing the information side by side to make sure that they kept it accurate and did not make any mistakes or change anything. :bolian:

I just got my email notification on this yesterday so I'll get it in a few weeks. I've also been charged for the next issue so they are keeping a quick schedule on shipping the parts out.

I got this last year before I even started the E build. Really beautifully made. And indeed: based a lot on the classic Fact Files, which is cool because these Illustrated Handbooks (they have released several) serve as a nicely bound archive of the best material from that series. No need anymore to rummage through the basement and 18 heavy-as-a-brick folders of old Fact Files when you want to look up the isometric views of a set.

Sorry for doubleposting, but I need some advice from your talented people who are further into the build than I am.

So I'm at stage 60 and I can't get the batteries in the nacelle to work. It seems they're okay as long as you don't screw the box cover on or turn the nacelle up into the correct orientation. It seems many people had this issue, judging from some YouTube builders. This guy here (at the 16:40 mark) also addresses the issue and makes a recommendation for a fix, but doesn't really show it, so I don't know what to do.

Have you guys run into this as well and who did you fix it?

@Eddie Roth I put a tiny piece of folded paper under the battery lid and it compresses the batteries down in to the contact more and the connection allows the nacelle lights to turn on. You might think of a better solution than folder paper but it does the trick. You could also glue a piece of thin sponge to the lid (which I might do at some point). Eaglemoss could have done with putting a spring at the top to compress the batteries in to place better. It works though. :bolian:

Alright, that sounds like an easy enough solution. I'll try that. Thanks!

Sad that deliveries have held up progress in this thread as it’s one of my favourite discussions on the forum. Godspeed the Enterprise D parts to all builders!
