    It's so tiny.
Does Petey remind anyone else of a Jim Henson's Creature Shop creature from The Dark Crystal or Labryinth?

One of the Alberta Wildies foals being very cute.

I forgot to mention before that they are supposed to be discussing the SAFE act in DC today, but this is just the step before it goes to the whole floor to vote on, so there's still a little ways to go before it can be put into action.
I would like to think it would be a no brainer, but there are a lot of other things like this I would think would be no brainers that haven't been passed, so I'm not sure what to expect.

I ran into the horseback riders who let me pet their horses during my bike ride this morning, and noticed something I thought was kinda interesting while I was petting the horses, one of them was way softer than any of the other horses I've pet, including their other horse. I'm wondering if it was a breed difference, because I asked before and they are different breeds, the softer one is, I think, a Thoroughbred, and the other is a Hanoverian x Quarter Horse, or maybe he just had a bath.

Saw this beautiful bird on my neighbor's house yesterday. Looks like a large egret. It was HUGE. I wouldn't have noticed it but it let out a loud squawk when I was getting the mail, and I looked up to see where the noise was coming from. Not very good pictures but you can get a sense of the size of it compared to the house.

Looks like a great egret, which can become a good size. We get them here, although they're a bit smaller than great blue herons. :)

Apparently a great egret is a little smaller than a white heron. The next time you see this one, get your tape measure and see if you can get some dimensions.

2 and 6 look fairly similar otherwise.

That's really cool. My mom and I walk our dogs through a neighborhood with a lake, and there are always a ton of water birds hanging around, including herons.

For the last week or so a whole ton of the rescues out east have been dealing with an absolutely horrible criminal neglect case out east, and now some pictures and videos are starting to come out now that they can talk about it.

This one I photographed several years ago at my last apartment complex was definitely a blue heron.

Darn, I thought it was a stork and someone in that house was getting a baby.
