Is it possible that phaser color in the 23rd century corresponds to different frequencies?
The 1701 Phasers were blue when the ship battled Control with Discovery (and those were the 'new phaser upgrades' per what number one said to Pike).
Also, when the 1701 crew were thinking of methods to divert the comet, it was mentioned that if the harmonics were set to higher frequencies, they could shatter the forcefield.
So, its possible different frequencies correspond to different phaser colours (which would actually be consistent with how ENT-D phasers behaved when Data was told by Shelby to rapidly cycle through the frequencies to remove the Borg Cube's tractor beam in BOBW)... obviously. since then, phaser colour remained more or less constant (orange in the series and more reddish in the movies).

He is supposed to be a starship Captain in a position of power and staus. He can do things and make things happen or not happen.

I choose to believe the color is a screensaver and of absolutely no importance.

"What color do you want the phasers tracers to be, sir?"

"Ooo, let's go with purple. Only Samuel L. Jackson has purple phasers."

Yes and he is choosing to be a man and face death. To sacrifice himself for the good of others.

Because the time rock showed the actual future. If it didn't take all of his decisions into account, it wouldn't have shown him the future it did.

That is wrong. whats to stop pike from say commiting suicide or crossing the road with eyes closed? or letting himself walking into middle of a firefight which make him INVINCIBLE by yur logic.

Anyone expecting Pike to evade his fate will likely be disappointed. These writers seem to be much better than that.

BTW, as he said last week, Pike actually experienced the event rather than witnessing a vision. We just learned that this includes knowledge of who he was with, etc.

The problem is, the way this was presented to Chris was that him becoming paraplegic is 'unavoidable' ... aka, meant to happen (and he has no choice in the matter).
He accepted this course of action for the sake of ensuring life exists in the future among other things... its possible that Chris decided he cannot risk jeopardizing the future by trying to change the outcome of his accident.

And we've seen before that course of events have a way of aligning themselves so that certain things come to pass either way.

Apart from that, I also thought about the possibility that his experience of the future may be suppressed before it happens (if not blocked, or erased even). That way, he won't know what is to come, and that future will still come to pass.

We also don't know the full effects of the time crystal on a person. The effects could be lingering to such a degree where the experience etches itself into a person's memory to the point where they keep reliving it to a degree (which can paralyze a person from doing anything about it)... or is basically 'perfect recall' in the case of that particular experience (unless its removed from Pike's head by artificial means, or its somehow suppressed), resulting in the same thing.

Because if he would do any of those actions, that's what the space rock would have shown.

    So linear.

Any possible actions to violate the future would have been incorporated into the future.

Yes, because we know how he dies and this is a prequel.

one thing i really never liked about Picard (especially early Picard) is he would rather have millions of people die from a preventive disaster then violate the sacred prime directive and people have to twist his arm to do anything sometimes

That's still only two episodes; two stories. Don't overplay your argument.

Exactly the question at hand, and they are addressing that.

Yeah who could possibly be bothered by certain knowledge of impeding death?

    Different series, different decisions.

I wouldn't be so sure. If Nero can change the timeline, so can anyone else with knowledge of what's coming.

At the end of this episode, Pike is actively engaged in trying to change his fate.

Regarding the sequence where the Enterprise flies around the comet to evade the aliens, I loved how they had little impacts from chunks of the comet on the shields. I also like how, for once, the shields held the entire episode.

I think Una was trying to convince him to do that, but in the end, I think he was trying to convince himself NOT to attempt changing his fate, that’s why he kept looking at the ones he’ll save….

And potentially allow people to die in his place.

You said he was supposed to act like a Starfleet captain, but now you seem to have changed your mind, possibly just to continue the argument.
