The NX-01, a constitution class ship, Picard's Stargazer were all in the fleet museum. The original script for "Relics" had it based at Memory Alpha

Can you name an actual time? I remember Dax commanding Defiant during the early period, and Worf serving with/under Martok at the same time. After that I can't recall him ever taking command of the ship. Was it off camera?

Being able to lead a mission here or there doesn't make for a good captain. Worf never seemed to get any sort of rapport with the crew. In his first year on DS9 he even moved off the station to get away from everyone. I think it would be hard to win trust with him, since he holds people to absurd standards of comportment, while his default moods seem to be either stoic or mildly irritated. I never got the sense he had any particular interest in exploration or discovery, and that he only did well in military engagements. "Perhaps today is a good day to die" isn't as effective with a Starfleet crew as it is with a Klingon one. I remember young Adam Scott on Defiant being told that before Worf ordered him to ram the ship into the Borg cube in First Contact and I think, what does a human kid think of dying with Worf's inappropriate declaration just before? Does he even know what Worf is talking about?

In addition to the aforementioned "Change of Heart" stuff making his ability to make a hard choice questionable to the brass, one of his last acts of his first stint in Starfleet was murdering the head of state of an allied power, the same power whose civil war he had previously resigned his commission to partake in. His ability to keep the interests of Starfleet and the Federation at the fore is very questionable, especially when it comes to his personal desires and issues of honor. Of course, his time as an ambassador and his later stint on Enterprise could mitigate that perception, which is why I am more intrigued rather than just assume he would just be bad at it.

Picard also mentions the Phoenix is in the Smithsonian, which is presumably on Earth still.

Just going off the date on the Defiant's dedication plaque stating that she was launched on stardate 47538.5. An extended period of testing or storage doesn't seem to be too unusual for starships and doesn't seem to count towards their operational lifespan – we know from the construction chronology in the TNG Technical Manual that the Enterprise-D began construction in 2350, first left drydock under her own power in 2358, and was basically complete and fully functional by 2359 ("declared deep-spaceworthy and warp-capable"), but wasn't formally commissioned until 4 October 2363, and is still only considered to be eight years old when she's destroyed in 2371.

I agree with all of this, but it's kind of sad that people disagreeing with the mainstream opinion feel the need to justify and defend themselves. This is like the Discovery subforum all over again.

That said, I'll give it a try and probably or hopefully will feel entertained. Right now, it feels like a retread of all these (TOS and other) movies of "All the old (mostly) dudes doing it one more time."Nineties Trek had its merits... in the nineties.

If I don't like it, I still haven't watched The Expanse. Trek isn't the be-all, end-all for me.

This thread is full of speculation, pertaining to characters, ships, weapons, storylines etc; I don't see why those with a more negative tinge should be postponed.

Maybe those who don't want these elemenets could simply avoid these posts.

And I don't see why fans of Star Trek: Picard should not want or prefer Star Trek: Picard characters. Why shouldn't they want more?

Do we think Spiner will be playing his character from Season One? I can't see him playing Data again.

I think everyone is at peace with Data's current status. I don't think the gang is going to get back together with a burning desire to bring him back (again), somehow.

I think it would really be cool to see this scene at the very end:

Picard: Geordie, I understand you are leaving for your new assignment as Captain of the USS Challenger.

Geordie: Yes Sir. She’s a Galaxy class and I hope to make you proud. I appreciate all you’ve taught me.

Picard: One last thing before you go… Picard pulls out a phaser and vaporizes a surprised Geordie. Picard then looks at the camera, smiles and says “I‘be been wanting to do that for years!”

    Roll the credits.

Can't wait. I do hope Dr. Pulaski will at least get a mention...

What?!? You want the last scene to be Picard murdering Geordi and saying he wanted to do it for years? That makes no sense.

Given my username, even though I don't really like the direction that the Picard show has taken, I feel that I should comment on this. I gave myself more or less a day to collect my thoughts.

First, I know that this show is popular with a lot of people. I, however, don't like it. I'm not going to elaborate because that will derail the thread. But other than a few really good episodes, the majority of the show has been underwhelming or straight up bad in my opinion. I like some of the characters, I love the way it is shot, but I'm not a fan of what they've done. Which is why I have stopped watching season 2.

Now, on the face of it I am excited to see the TNG crew reunite. I thought that this is part of what we were going to get when this show was announced. I didn't expect they would all come back for every episode. I didn't expect to see them all the time. I thought they would pop in here and there as Picard was off being an archaeologist or spending time on his vineyard, or when he got roped into some sort of diplomatic mission and they had to reactivate his Starfleet commission. So, if we're going to get something like that in season 3 with all of the TNG characters (presumably there to say goodbye to their old captain... Even though it's not really him anymore, but an Android golem) I will be happy to watch it. But I can't shake the feeling that this is the fourth season of Enterprise all over again. That they are course correcting in the final season in order to get some disaffected fans back on board. And it turns out to be too little, too late.

I don't know. And I really don't trust these new writers. I really really wish they would have gotten some of the original writers who wrote Captain Picard for years to come back and write him again as an older man. However, that being said, I will watch season 3. I want to see the gang back together. And for crying out loud, I want to see this show go into the 25th century.

We need some shocking humor added at the end. At the very least, it can be an outtake or part of a blooper reel. :)

A blooper reel, sure, but not part of the canon ending.

I'm over the moon by this news, and can't wait for Season III. And I have no concerns about the Enterprise crew overshadowing the new guys as long as the story is good. The show is, after all, about Picard.

If you do the Geordi Challenger route, it would be an opportunity to bring back the Galaxy class. Plus we know there are Sovereigns around -- and Excelsiors so that's 3 Enterprise classes. And surely Online could have put the Odyssey class in the package, just they chose not to use it yet (if you play all your cards at the beginning of Season 2 then all the fun's been had...)

Two things I absolutely don't want to see in Season 3:
    Picard getting killed off
    Worf in DIS-makeup

I know filming is finished but I'm guessing season 3 won't be out until next year?

    Gonna be a long wait!!

You'd think they'd have learnt their lesson on killling off legendary characters for shocks now...

Well, one could argue that Picard already was killed off and is now just a synth.

You could argue that, but you’d be wrong.
