Another shot - not especially helpful for deciding scale/size

No, but it does confirm beyond doubt that the lounge is definitely at the very front of the ship.

I wonder how many decks the ship has at this point. Should the lounge be called 4 Forward or 5 Forward?

Looks like it’ll be fun. I just wish the Enterprise looked liked the Enterprise in those exterior shots.

Could just be a "Senior Staff Lounge", an "Observation Lounge" or a "Forward Lounge" - perhaps even an "Officer's Mess"

I put this together some time ago to show that if we accept canonically that the 1701 was 442m long, it still fits nicely with the Enterprise lineage.

I think everything in the Enterprise linage has to be upscaled…at least until the E-D. But I don’t think you have to adjust Voyager, the Defiant, etc…

IIRC The Enterprise B, C, D, E are designed to better match the sets and exteriors. They aren't perfect of course, Deck 1 and 2 on the Enterprise D in the bridge module, doesn't work too well, and many people who have 3D modelled it, have had to do sloped mini corridors to make it fit.

Why? The jump in size from the Ent-A to B was massive. Bumping the original size up to 442m has absolutely zero effect on any plot lines and simply makes the jump from Constitution to Excelsior a little less extreme.

    Yup.

    100% agreed.

First Contact changed the timeline irreparebly, caused Borg drones and such to be left in the past, introduced future info too early, started a Temporal Cold War, changed the founding of the Federation (ENT), caused a cabin full of future tech to be left behind (Daniels), and now the entire 23rd century is different. I actually think its possible that it also caused seven of nine to come into existance, as knowledge of the Borg now pre-dated Q.

Nope. Unless you think TNG and Voyager are also alternate timelines.

Because Voyager directly references the events of First Contact and calls those events a predestination paradox.

The Borg transmission sent out at the end of ENT Regeneration is the reason the Borg are in the Alpha Quadrant in TNG Season 1 and probably why the Hansons were investigating them before that.

Yeah we've seen no evidence that First Contact really changed anything and plenty of evidence (Deep Space Nine, Voyager, In a Mirror Darkly, These are the Voyages...) that the timeline is just as we saw it. We definitely got no evidence or even hints that First Contact caused the Temporal Cold War.

I take a similar approach with all of STAR TREK. Each show stands on its own even if it references, makes callbacks, or has Easter Eggs to the other shows.

I judge them on their own without trying to fit it all into a neat Prime Universe canon. And I really don't care about canon—though I do retain a great deal of in my head.

An approach I developed during the Bruce Timm DCU shows. I didn't want to let inconsistencies cloud my enjoyment of each show.

I don't need SNW to look exactly like TOS but I'm over-the-moon at how much its aesthetic is informed by it.

Because it makes sense that if you upscale the ship by almost 50% it would ripple going forward, starting with the refit. So this timeline/universes 1701-A is gonna be bigger by roughly 15-18m. So the size of the Excelsior class increases, the Excelsior refit increases on top of that, etc…

They are doing a visual reboot but it’s not just a TOS visual reboot. It ripples through all the live action shows…jury is out on Picard though. The more we see of the interior of the Discoprise the less you can visually reconcile it with everything that has come after, just by sheer size alone.

Nope. The size difference between the Excelsior and Ambassador wasn't that much.
