It's a lot better than Ye Olde Spray-and-Pray Method of twenty years ago (drown TPTB in letters and postcards and hope that gets someone's attention).

Now, I can see the response in real time! :techman:

Could they call the spin-off show ‘Assignment: Earth’ and have Seven of Nine as the main character instead of Gary Seven? Guinan can be her loyal companion in the series? :adore:

I meant the new recast young Guinan, who still might need to learn the ropes…

I don't find Seven compelling enough of a character to lead her own show.

I love her in Picard (and Voyager) but as the series lead? Not so sure about that.

Besides, they've given Voyager enough attention in new Trek. You have Seven in Picard. Janeway and Chakotay in Prodigy. Paris in LDS. The Voyager-J in Disco. Where's the DS9 love???

I’m not sure what they are fighting over, it has never been explained in any of the Star Trek series? Maybe a spin off show led by seven of nine can shed some light on the causes of the actual conflict? When (if) the timeline returns to normal, people who can’t get over the problems that caused the conflicts might realise that it is better to try and live in harmony, with mutual respect and understanding than go back to fighting with the potential devestating outcome? People like Seven of Nine and young Guinan could lead the way… they know what would happen in a worse case scenario in an alternate universe so could spread the word!

DS9 is still my favorite Trek show, but I don't get this kind of record-keeping at all. Show X has been mentioned x times more than my favorite show? I don't care. Not trying to argue here, just dfferent strokes, I guess.

This Picard series is almost like a sequel to Past Tense which is DS9. We have seen quite a considerable number of DS9 characters make a cameo via their skulls? So technically Picard has had more DS9 character cameos than Voyager has had.

SNW is not the "result of a fan campaign."

Audiences responded well to the characters, and there was apparently at least one Trek executive who lobbied hard for such a show from the beginning. What, you think some trekkies online throwing up a Change.org petition really motivated the studio's decisions?

"Oh my God, did you see this online petition? How many viewers do you think 3496 signatures represent?"

"If they're all real? I'd guess 3495. If every one of them bought a subscription, we'd make somewhere around 25,000 dollars, easy. What do you want for lunch?"

SNW? What is SNW? Is it an acronym for the new seven of nine spin off series? Seven of Nine’s World?

Is this a joke? Is this REALLY happening??? Or are we getting something else that we didn’t ask for?

Exciting either way, none the less…

    SNW = Strange New Worlds

I'm going by what Anson Mount, Alex Kurtzman, and the producers have said. They've all been saying, "the fans wanted it."

How did they gauge fan response? Ten Twitter posts? A hundred? A thousand? Ten thousand? What number was the tipping point?

I don't know the precise mechanism by which this was accomplished. I'm assuming it was something more organized than a bunch of fans shouting into the void.

If they got SNW, why not a spinoff for Seven of Nine?

This like to an Instagram comment I left two years at Jeri Ryan's page is one of the high points of my online life.

I honestly think one reason why Seven has been included in Picard is precisely because she is such a popular character. If anything had happened to Patrick Stewart during filming, she might well have been in a position to take over.

Seven still has another season of Picard. It may well be too early to talk seriously of another series. Too, we also have no idea what Jeri Ryan would be interested in. Maybe she would not want it.

Then again, maybe she would. I would think that the fan response would be key. So far, everyone seems really happy to have Seven again.

I've worked on campaigns in the past. Cancellation is too late to do anything.

We know it's coming. The time to act is Now. It would be irresponsible to do otherwise.

Not really, since Season 3 is working on filming. These productions take time.

According to an interview with Del Arco, Seven was slated to be the show's lead character before CBS got Sir Patrick to sign on. So it's not out of the question that they'd decide she was popular enough to go ahead with a spin-off now that he's done.

One must handle these matters delicately.

We can't tell Sir Patrick, "We're going to do this, this, and this after you're gone" to his face.

It would be rude. It's something akin to pretending he's dead. :(

They would have legacy sets left over from Picard.

Holy shit, I missed that! And I love Jean-Luc/ SPS, but I can't help but wonder what a Seven show could have been like. I've always thought there'd be a lot to explore with her character.
