Any of us novel readers get any Coda vibes from this episode? I could imagine an army of Nagas coming out of that anomaly

Given how dressed up Guinan was (and the lighting) it really wasn't that clear she aged that much to be honest - just that she put on a good deal of weight.

Watched the ep. Thoroughly enjoyed it and the reinstatement of post-Nemesis Starfleet. Felt like watching TNG The Movie #5 at times.
Favourite scene was Admiral Picard, back on the Stargazer, giving orders, surrounded by officers in those gorgeous uniforms!
Also Guinan and Q are still wonderful. i hope this sets the tone for the next 19 episodes #nopressure

Well, Amazon Prime took their sweet time making this available to the rest of the world, but having finally managed to watch, I loved it. A really strong season opener. The time jump was the right choice, after the S1 finale. Everyone has moved forward in believable ways. I loved seeing Rios as the full-blown Star Fleet captain he was always meant to be, before Oh's betrayal (100% would watch a Star Trek: Stargazer series with Rios and his crew, he has a style that's all his own), and Raffi looking so content and fulfilled with her new role at the Academy, Elnor so happy to have joined Star Fleet, building a whole new life for himself that he could never even have hoped for while stuck on Vashti. It was lovely to see Soji looking so at peace and so comfortable in her own skin, Drunk Agnes was loads of fun, and I love that Seven has been bumped up to full cast member now, still rattling around the galaxy with the Fenris Rangers and La Sirena. Picard too seems at peace with his life now - other than the slight domestic drama with Laris. So of course having caught up with everyone, they are immediately dropped into High Drama to kick off the seasonal arc. I am well and truly intrigued and looking forward to episode two!

I liked pretty much everything about this episode except the "big start, flash back X hours" style opening. Tedious.

After rewatching season 1 and watching the first episode of season 2 I think Star Trek Picard is becoming my favourite Star Trek series.
    I absolutely love it.

It explains why Soran looked much older than Guinan and then didn't age for 80 years ;)
He probably liked white hair and knew men can get more attractive with age :D

Found it! 27:16-17:23, and she actually says "mmmmh, they're playing my song!"
    Brilliant :D

Laris wants a relationship with Picard. In fairness, I don't think Laris is Picard's type. Daren from "Lessons" is Picard's type. Unless Laris has a thing for astrology, art, music, and literature, etc. My sense is she misses Zhaban in the way of having a man.

But, at the same time, it gives a chance to delve into why Picard hasn't bothered to get into a serious long, lasting relationship. I think Picard is demisexual and he hasn't found too many kindred spirits.

One thing about Laris is that she's a Romulan, so she has layers upon layers that Picard probably hasn't seen. And she probably didn't really love Zhaban, so much as learned to love him, which are two different things.

My big issue with the shot is why the Vulcan officer was acting so emotional when in the turbodeck/under fire.

In the 22nd Century, OSHA just couldn't come up with safety standards that would satisfy every member of the Federation, so they threw up their hands and gave up early on. Then the Federation Congress officially voted, and the Speaker of the House told the Head of Starfleet, "You're on your own!"

I think it's pretty likely that there will be a 25th century continuation show following Picard. One of the things we don't know is when the Starfleet Academy show will be set, but I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up shooting in LA. I had thought it would be in the Disco future era following the Tilly story this season, but introducing Picard as Academy commandant and Elnor as a cadet might be a hint.

I think when we all saw those incredible Enterprise sets in Disco season 2 we all knew they hadn't just been built for those episodes. We'll see.

Seems more likely to me that after the third season they'll just have a new show with Jeri Ryan as the lead actor and whoever wants to stay on from Picard.

in fact seeing how Picard is now working for the academy made me wonder if the academy show won’t be set in the 25th century, with Stewart doing occasional cameos. This would make of Tilly’s departure a red herring, though, intentional or not.

and he was also injured. Also I don’t remember him being particularly emotive.

He was emotive by Vulcan standards when he was on the floor.

Have you seen the Vulcan crew on Lower Decks?
